English Paving is a leading paving company based in Newfoundland and Labrador specializing in the design, construction, and maintenance of residential and commercial paving projects. We are currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Manager to join our team. As the Financial Manager, you will play a critical role in overseeing the financial operations of our company and ensuring its financial stability and growth. By effectively managing risks, you will contribute to the long-term financial stability and success of English Paving. Your expertise in risk assessment, bank relationship management, internal controls, compliance, and business continuity planning will play a vital role in minimizing financial vulnerabilities and maximizing opportunities for growth.

Responsibilities:

Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential financial risks and their impact on the company's operations.
Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and controls to minimize exposure to financial risks.
Monitor and evaluate risk mitigation measures to ensure their effectiveness.

Banking relationship management:
Effectively manage banking relationships will directly impact the company's cash flow management, financing options, and overall financial stability.
Liaise with banks to ensure compliance with banking regulations, loan covenants, and reporting requirements.
Provide necessary financial information and documentation to facilitate audits, loan reviews, and due diligence processes.

Internal Controls:
Regularly review and update internal control policies and procedures to adapt to changing business environments and regulatory requirements.
Provide guidance to management and employees on compliance with internal controls and risk management practices.

Compliance and Regulatory Matters:
Stay updated on relevant financial laws, regulations, and reporting requirements applicable to the paving industry.
Liaise with regulatory bodies, auditors, and legal advisors to address compliance issues and resolve any potential financial risks.

Financial Planning and Analysis:
Develop and implement financial strategies, plans, and budgets in alignment with the company's objectives.
Conduct financial analysis, forecasting, and modeling to provide accurate and timely financial information to support decision-making processes.
Monitor financial performance, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions as necessary.

Cash Flow Management
Manage cash flow, including monitoring inflows and outflows, forecasting cash needs, and optimizing working capital.
Establish and maintain relationships with financial institutions to facilitate banking activities and secure necessary financing.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration or a related field. A master's degree or professional certification is preferred.
Experience in managing cash flow, credit, and banking relationships.
Proven work experience as a Financial Manager, Financial Controller, Risk Management officer or similar role in the related industry.
In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards (GAAP/IFRS).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic insights.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Advanced proficiency in financial software and MS Excel.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Job Type: Full-time, permanent, 40 hrs/week
Salary: $35 per hour
