Nature & Environmental Solutions NES has a key role to play in this hierarchy to provide carbon offset in hard to abate sectors. Shell NES will work to (i) directly invest in natural ecosystem – developing high-quality natural carbon sinks with environmental and social co-benefits, (ii) trade and market carbon credits in voluntary and compliance markets, and (iii) offer Shell customers a choice to offset, or compensate, their own emissions generated from select products that they buy from Shell.

NES is an exciting space to work in the middle of the energy transition, with high deal activity in the form of new (joint) venture set up, M&A, structured finance and offtakes. As NES Finance Analyst, you will be part of the regional NES Finance team based in Singapore, covering the APAC region.

What's the role

You will act as Finance Lead and/ or Finance Support of commercial deals, responsible for delivery of full suite of Finance responsibilities, including, but not limited to:


Providing business critical finance challenge and support from an early stage
Ensuring finance sign-off on proposed commercial opportunities
Operationalizing and/or maintaining oversight across the life of a commercial deal
Providing finance expertise and advice to New Business Development, Structured Finance transactions or New Market Entry projects.
Reviewing the results of project economics to ensure consistency in assumptions used, standardization of methodology, reasonableness of the results, etc. Provide financial input into project economics.
Providing controllership, governance and finance support to regional trading offices and business joint ventures, to ensure business is growing with control.
Liaising with other Finance functional areas, including Tax, Treasury, Controllers, Credit, Risk and Shared support services teams, who may be based in various Shell locations
Integrated performance management - ensuring commercial delivery of long dated transactions is controlled and sustainable, ensuring there is transparency around deal performance and risks.
Advocate enterprise mindset and display leadership in establishing an integrated business model, governance and embedding ways of working across NES.


What we need from you

We are keen to speak to professionals with as many of the following:


Accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent). Energy risk professional will be an added advantage.
Excellent analytical skills, financial modelling skill is highly desirable. Prior experience in Trading will be an added advantage.
Experienced finance professional with prior experience in risk management or treasury, M&A, or commercial finance roles.
Knowledge of carbon market is advantageous.
Ability to speak multiple languages preferred, especially Mandarin, effective communicator at all levels both internally and externally.
Strong leadership qualities and high personal integrity. Ability to effectively challenge and influence whilst remaining commercially/bottom line focused.
Speed of business understanding. Effective customer/business focus both internally & externally.
Ability to work under pressure and across cultures.
Some travel is required.
