The business is on a significant growth journey, where Trading is the integrator to optimise value across the integrated chain. SEAu Trading is focused on trading gas, power, and renewable certificates within the Australian market with a growing portfolio of renewable generation.
The Finance Advisor Trading, reporting to the Finance Manager Trading, is a highly commercial role supporting a dynamic Gas & Power Trading organization. Working alongside the commercial team, you will contribute to realising value from current and future opportunities whilst effectively managing and mitigating the associated risks.
What’s the role?
As a business Finance professional within the organisation, the Finance Advisor will work across a diverse range of activities in a dynamic, evolving external environment:
Partner with multiple Commercial teams to develop and refine strategic intent, and translate the strategy into actionable plans with transparency of value and risk
Provide Finance leadership and expertise to multiple Commercial teams on deal opportunities, and autonomously deliver the full suite of Finance support (including tax, treasury, accounting, and structuring), and coordinate the involvement of other Finance subject matter experts as required
Ensure a fit for purpose performance management system is in place, and provide insights to business stakeholders which offer valuable, proactive, and pragmatic suggestions and solutions to improve business performance
Provide stewardship to protect the long-term health of the business by maintaining and enhancing the business control framework
Ensure Mandate, Manual of Authorities, Deal Approval Process, and other Investment standards are effectively governed, understood, and complied with
Contribute to key external compliance requirements (e.g. Australian Financial Services License)
Lead delivery of high priority improvement projects to build more robust control frameworks
Develop upfront solutions to ensure the introduction of new products, such as Battery Energy Storage Systems and Renewable Generation, are understood across all aspects of Finance and Market Risk
Work across boundaries to gain internal / external insights which can be applied in the local Australian context
You will thrive in:
Interfacing with multiple stakeholders across the business and beyond including Generation, Retail, and the Australian integrated gas business to support the drive for integrated value and risk management
Ensuring a robust control framework evolves in a business with an ambitious growth agenda, including ongoing integration for inorganic acquisitions
Effective performance management of value and risk as new products are developed and delivered in response to the transition of the Australian energy market toward renewable generation
What we need from you
We are keen to speak to Finance professionals with commercial finance acumen, and experience & understanding of opportunity maturation. Furthermore:
Qualifications & Licenses: CA/CPA designation or equivalent
Australian power market knowledge and experience is beneficial
Business partnering experience and well-developed relationship building and influencing skills are critical
Demonstrated Finance knowledge and expertise with strong financial, analytical, and economic valuation skills
Working understanding of financial energy markets & contractual arrangements. Exposure to market risk control frameworks and concepts is important
Commercial orientation with the ability to operate within a dynamic rapidly changing environment
Able to establish credibility within business leaders and trading desks
Demonstrated business partnering track record; well-developed relationship building & influencing skills
Practical mindset, get things done and achieve outstanding results, creating, and protecting value for Group
Self-starter and effective team player
