Profile

The associate director possesses comprehensive knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations, as well as institutional policies and procedures. The position oversees the unit's critical outreach efforts to increase prospective and current student awareness of and accessibility to all forms of financial aid and scholarships. Assists with the office's daily functions, including application processing, outreach, customer service, special problems and circumstances, verification processes. Assists the director and other unit administrators in fulfilling unit responsibilities for compliance with all federal, state and institutional regulations, policies and procedures related to the administration of financial aid as well as ensuring the institution fulfills all Title IV compliance requirements.
Administers the daily operations of the Federal Pell Grant program, including management of all USDOE reports that are required for determining student eligibility; internal policies and procedures, reconciliation and reporting, and ensuring compliance with all federal regulations as related to the Pell Grant Program. Works with the director and associate director of technology and loans to implement regulatory changes to the Pell Grant Program as required. Works collaboratively with the associate director of loans and technology to ensure that all daily operations as they relate to the counseling staff are reviewed on an ongoing basis as it impacts workflow, processing and student services. Supervises Financial Aid Services counselors.
Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree is required. A Master's degree is strongly preferred.
A minimum of five years experience in financial aid administration or a combination of education, experience and skills relevant to managing a comprehensive financial aid and scholarship programs required.
One year of prior supervisory experience required.
Knowledge of FERPA required.
Experience with administration of the federal programs is required and experience with Maryland State programs preferred.
Experience with the Return of Title IV funds process preferred.
Prior experience in strategic planning and budget management preferred.
Experience and knowledge of Ellucian's Colleague system strongly preferred; experience with a student database system is required, particularly in relation to financial aid modules.
Prior community college experience preferred.
Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering financial aid outreach programs preferred.
Prior experience with and participation in regional and national financial aid training workshops and conferences preferred.
Outstanding technology skills, including knowledge and experience with student systems (preferably Ellucian/Colleague) and digital imaging technology (ImageNow) systems required.
