The financial coordinator will support grant funded projects in the IET division. This includes executing the grant budget, supporting contractual obligations, implementing participant stipends, tracking and coordinating faculty and staff effort and load assignments, providing financial reports and remittance to funders as needed. The Makers by Design, DEEP IET, DCO TECH, SuperPL projects all have participant support costs which include paying participants for coordinated internships, professional learning, or career preparation activities. The processes to implement and track these payments is essential to the successful execution and would be a part of the financial coordinator’s responsibilities.
Duties and Tasks:
Analyze, track and forecast division and department budgets including compiling and writing reports and budget narratives.
Development and implementation of financial processes to support grant implementation, including but not limited to the development of contracts, execution of subawards with external partners and vendors.
Coordinating the grant efforts with various NOVA offices; OSP, HR, etc.
Implementing payments to non-employees such as students, faculty and program participants.
Analyzing and solving financial issues that require knowledge of sponsored projects and state/federal policies
Required KSAs:
Ability to analyze problems and come to logical decisions and then to implement those decisions. Must have the capability to deal with people constructively and positively, facilitate conflict resolution, while maintaining a sense of service and direction in support the College mission.
Ability to analyze, interpret and prepare budgets and financial reports; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.
Ability to develop, interpret and apply policies and procedures; establish and maintain effective working relationships; communicate and work well with colleagues and other personnel; and prioritize/effectively plan and coordinate multiple projects in a timely manner.
Exhibits technical proficiency with budget oversight and demonstrate excellent leadership knowledge, skills and abilities regarding fiscal planning.
Excellent accounting, fiscal management, budgeting, communication, and personnel management skills.
Knowledge of financial processes in an educational setting.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, related field or equivalent training and experience.
Significant of professional experience in finance
Experience managing budgets
Experience analyzing data and researching/gathering financial information from software systems
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in finance, education or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of state and federal grant financial policies.
Significant years of experience in higher education administration
Certified research administrator or PMP certification.
