OVERVIEW:The Madewell Financial Analyst will assist in all aspects of planning, reporting, analysis and ad-hoc projects to support decision making for the Madewell Brand across Store, Ecommerce and Wholesale businesses.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Responsible for developing detailed expense budgets and monthly forecasts for Madewell Store, Ecommerce and Wholesale businesses - including selling, operating and departmental expenses. Ensure that monthly forecasts are completed on time and accurately reflect current business trends *Establish strong cross functional partnerships and develop a solid understanding of business operations and expense drivers. Coordinate with key internal business partners and create touch points with cost center owners across Planning, Merchandising, Design, Marketing, Store and Ecomm Operations, Sourcing and Real Estate. *Prepare materials for monthly P&L reviews with the Madewell Leadership Team and provide detailed commentary on variances to Budget and prior Forecast *Develop and maintain meaningful, actionable and timely management reporting to inform business partners and leadership team of financial performance *Prepare daily/weekly store sales plans in collaboration with the planning team and store operations *Assist in all aspects of business case development for Madewell strategic initiatives *Build pro forma models evaluating the profitability and returns of potential Madewell real estate opportunities *Work closely with the accounting team during the monthly close process and provide expense accruals as needed to ensure accuracy in financial results *Ad-hoc reporting and analysis to drive decision making.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
*BS in Finance or Accounting with 2+ years of professional experience in financial analysis. Retail industry experience a plus *Superior PC and modeling skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel and Powerpoint). Knowledge and experience in SAP and Hyperion a plus. *Exceptional communication, organizational and analytical skills. *Ability to manage multiple work streams simultaneously, prioritize deadlines, and drive projects to completion. *Excellent attention to detail and capable of producing high-quality presentation materials for business partners and executive leadership. *Team player, possess a strong work ethic balanced by good interpersonal skills. *Motivated, curious and conscientious self-starter who will seek opportunities to learn the business and improve upon the status quo
