About the Controller's Office
The Office of the Controller keeps the City's ledgers and books, manages payroll and accounts payable; establishes and enforces Citywide financial policies, procedures and internal controls; produces the financial reports including the annually audited financial statements of the City; and works with agencies to improve financial skills. The Controller's Office is seeking a Financial Reporting Manager to lead the Financial Reporting team within our Accounting and Financial Reporting Division. The Accounting and Financial Reporting Division keeps the city's ledgers and books, maintains the county property tax roll, produces the annually audited financial statements of the city known as the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR)
, produces monthly standard financial reports, develops ad hoc and other special reports and is responsible for online financial information. We ensure the integrity of the city's financial information in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), is responsible for the city's internal control framework which includes fiscal accountability rules and procedures, and coordinates with Technology Services in support of the city's financial system.
In this role, you will be challenged as an experienced financial professional to manage the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report
Additionally, as the Financial Reporting Manager, you can expect to:
Develop goals, document performance, provide performance feedback and formally evaluate the work of the employee; provide reward and recognition for proper and efficient performance
Assist staff to achieve performance standards and identify opportunities for continual improvement to performance standards
Monitor and direct daily operations to ensure policies and procedures are being followed
Ensure goals and objectives are met, services are being provided efficiently and effectively, and take corrective action when needed
Make sure staff and financial resources are utilized appropriately and shifts resources based on business needs
Interact with individuals at all levels ranging from executives to administrative staff from a variety of City agencies to clearly communicate goals, deliverables, and expectations
Oversee and manage the development of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report
Work directly with external auditors to provide information and reports
Work with client groups to ensure financial statements and activities are accurate
Research and implement GASB pronouncements
Ensure operational units within the Controller's Office are in compliance with reporting requirements and maintains fiscal accountability with regard to rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Contribute to the execution of the Controller's Office strategic priorities
About You
We are looking for someone with some or all the following skills and experience:
Experience in Government Accounting and preparing the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report
Certified Public Accountant certification
Workday Financials experience
The ability to adapt to changing conditions and champion those changes positively to the team
Excellent interpersonal skills and be capable of positively representing the Controller's Office to internal and external stakeholders
Proficient oral and written communication skills
A devotion to bettering the organization through innovation, passion, energy, and creativity
A team player and strong leader who possesses excellent supervisory skills and models exceptional customer service

Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related field based on a specific position(s).
Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of supervisory experience.
Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education
Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
