POSITION SUMMARY:

The manager is responsible for supporting strategic business projects by performing quantitative analysis; developing quantitative models and tools; and developing and applying analytical modeling to assist business partners with decision making, addressing specific business issues and challenges, and recommending appropriate solutions.  The candidate will apply professional methods of quantitative analysis to create project presentations and documentation; and contribute to the creation of new intellectual property for the company (such as marketing materials, white papers, articles, patents, new algorithms etc.).  Other duties will include developing new functionalities and modules to strengthen the portfolio of tools and models used by our company; improving the performance and reliability of existing tools; testing new versions and applications; and performing assigned project and administrative tasks to improve project management and our company’s overall efficiency.   

The duties of the position are highly specialized and sophisticated in nature. They involve the application of data wrangling methods and performing quantitative analysis and modeling to drive better business decisions and performances. 

The domain of the manager’s work is high-level problem-solving including the use of advanced techniques such as optimization, data mining, statistical analysis and mathematical modeling. These models are used to develop solutions that help businesses and organizations operate more efficiently in areas such as trade promotion, inventory targets and replenishment, demand forecasting and price setting.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:

  • Drive and lead projects through influence and presence, act as a steward for global initiatives

  • Generate dashboards, reports, and KPIs by understanding the vision, gathering requirements, deliver solutions, training and documentation

  • Consult cross-functional partners on designing data-driven analyses, strategies and tools

  • Perform large-scale data science methodology to extract useful business insights and unlock new strategies and optimizations

  • Interface with key corporate and business partners to ensure alignment of priorities and strategies

  • Communicate progress against initiatives and strategies to multiple levels and functional areas to gain buy in and support, or to influence action

  • Execute and track goals and initiatives, measure progress, metrics, KPIs, and ROI

  • Connect dots across multiple strategies and time horizons, maintain a holistic understanding of the business across all functions & geographies

  • Strategic storytelling- effectively communicate complex ideas, data points, and strategies to diverse audiences in a compelling simple way that inspires action

  • Maintain and grow knowledge of macro environment and associated business impact

  • Assess projects and ideas and present recommendations to leadership, including ROI analysis, resourcing needs, and future impact to the business

  • Identify white space ideas and opportunities by conducting research and attending external forums- create proposals and action plans for implementation

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

           Experience:     

  • 5+ years in an analytical role supporting an operations team within Retail/Supply Chain

  • Prior knowledge with database queries and understanding relational data models (e.g., SQL) to ensure that data in disparate systems are accurately represented

  • Familiarity with statistical programming languages (R, Python, Scala), scripting languages (e.g., VBA, DAX, PowerShell)

  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau)

  • Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop and Spark

  • Working knowledge of statistics

  • Ability to communicate complex data in a simple, actionable way

  • Experience with machines learning and AI

  • Experience in developing, maintaining, & collecting structured & unstructured data sets for analysis & reporting

   

           Education:

  • BS/BA Degree in a quantitative field (e.g. Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Information Management etc.) or equivalent experience

  • Masters Degree preferable

           Skills:                

  • Strong Analytical Toolkit. Excel, Looker, SQL, R/Python as must

  • Strong sense of ownership and entrepreneurial spirit with relentlessly high standards and high attention to detail

  • Must be a collaborative, cross-functional team player and comfortable partnering with a variety of teams

  • Proactive & independent, always looking for ways to take the initiative and improve existing programs/process

  • Resourceful- is able to work independently and as part of a team
