Where you fit in
The Finance Advisor Commercial Mobility will serve as the face of Finance for opportunities or challenges prioritised based on value and risk. They are responsible for the delivery of Finance capability required to support Mobility Marketing, Fleet Solutions, Network and Commercial Road Transport business initiatives.
This team will be part of an exciting growth journey providing financial support to a wide range of Downstream Accelerated Growth initiatives and will be well positioned to ensure the effective allocation of financial resources to these initiatives.
What’s the role?
The Finance Advisor will for a variety of activities/opportunities assigned to them by the Finance Manager Commercial Mobility based on Value/Risk (e.g., large investments, complex contracts, digital ventures, e-Mobility, control framework improvements, performance management development) depending on the requirements, of the specific activity:
Provide financial support to the Mobility strategic growth initiatives as part of the Growth pillar in Shell’s Powering Progress strategy. This can range from supporting inorganic investments, new digital initiatives, new business models and/or new partnerships that support the safe delivery of Mobility’s significant growth ambitions
Challenge and support the business to ensure financial resources (e.g., OPEX, CAPEX, working capital) are effectively allocated and used. A key part of this will be supporting the business to meet the Downstream cost and capital ambitions
Deliver the full suite of Finance support to business (including tax, treasury, accounting, and structuring) autonomously, and coordinate the involvement of Centres of Expertise above pre-agreed thresholds
Independently ensure that a proper functioning control framework is in place and that risks are properly understood, reflected, and managed.
Independently ensure value and risks are made transparent and understood in both decision making and in performance management as well as ensuring a fit for performance management system is in place
Bring new proposals of high value activities to the Pool Finance Manager who decides on the resource allocation. For example, in initiating digitalisation projects and acting as a connector between various areas of Finance and the business.
Actively look for opportunities to reduce nonvalue adding Finance activity (“demand management”) and implement ESSA (Eliminate, Standardise, Simplify and Automate) and maximize use of Finance Operations in delivery of processes.
Interfaces
Finance Advisors, as part of a pool, supporting the business:
Will work with various business leaders, representing the finance function, across Mobility Marketing, Retail Network, Commercial Road Transport and Fleet Solutions.
Will on specific projects/transactions, work as the voice of Finance to deliver as “One Finance” interfacing with the Centres of Expertise and Finance Operations. Act across organisational boundaries as required in the specific activity
Dimensions
Support 4 Business areas and VPs (Mobility Fleet Solutions, Marketing, Network and Commercial Road Transport in Sectors & Decarbonisation)
Support the Accelerated Growth agenda by supporting the capital investment and supporting new business models in digital and other areas like e-Mobility, Services on the Road (e.g., telematics, tolls) and carbon offsetting
What we need from you?
We are keen to hear from candidates who demonstrate the following:
Experienced finance professional with an all-round set of core Finance skills includingfinance business partnership, accounting or business controllership.
Any financial qualification is preferred, but not required.
Ability to gain the confidence of various internal and external parties building on strong knowledge and understanding of the business drivers, value, and risk. Challenge and support as required.
Maturity and authority to decide when to involve CoEs and effectively play the independent Finance role.
Problem solving mindset with the courage to ensure professional financial rigor is applied to commercial decision-making process and risk management bringing analytics and insights to the table
Project management skills and flexibility given the support across multiple activities/assets.
Ability to rapidly understand the specific business or function context for which activities in the pool concept are linked to.
