Job Description
The Accounting Manager
is responsible for overseeing the mill Cost Accounting team to deliver timely and accurate reporting across the Memphis facility, including overseeing the month-end process, the cost control systems, manage and interpret the cost audits and preparing cost accounting reports for presentation to mill management.
The Accounting Manager
reports directly to the Controller at the Memphis site. The Accounting Manager has two direct reports at the Cost Accountant level.
Responsibilities for this position include the following:
Manage the day to day activities of the Memphis cost accounting team
Manage and maintain an active team of cost accountants
Cultivate a deep business partner relationship across the organization, including but not limited to corporate accounting, BU finance, operations and audit teams.
Create a culture of continuous improvement within the Memphis accounting team and across the finance organization to ensure processes and activities are efficient and effective
Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all financial cost information for the Memphis site
Deliver monthly reporting to Senior Management, BU Finance team and Corporate
Assist and support department leaders to ensure each department is meeting regulatory compliance
Performs financial and production analysis in working with all management and departments heads within the site
Monitors cost and variance reporting systems to control inventories and cost
Work with IT group to reconcile and generate required financial data
Manages the annual budget and standard cost development
Monitors variance tracking, cost reduction projects, performance ratios, break-even cost and product flows
Tracks material and overhead cost reporting trends as they occur
Responsible for maintaining internal controls to ensure accuracy of financial reporting and recommends corrective actions.
Interfaces with external auditors to explain the Company’s financial reporting and accounting policies while satisfying the auditor’s request for analysis
Liaise with internal auditors for operational audits and 52-109 compliance reporting
Perform any other special duties, projects or analyses as directed

University degree in Business and/or Finance, Accounting or Commerce
Accounting designation required (CPA, CMA)
Minimum 10 years relevant accounting and business experience, including at least 3 years as a Manager
Experience in a manufacturing environment a strong asset
Experience in preparing financial statements a strong asset
Proficient in MS Office tools
Strong SAP knowledge, in particular the FI, and CO modules, as well as experience with finance systems development and implementation
Good inter-personal skills to deal with a variety of people across the organization and at multiple levels
Communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
Ability to plan and organize your own work activities, manage work time efficiently, work independently
Partner with managers and employees to positively impact business results
Consistent track record for executing performance objectives an delivering results
Key Competencies including: candor/integrity, influencing & building partnerships, team work, accountability, problem solving, and customer focus
Job Requirements
