The Associate Director Finance provides support in managing the US Commercial Headquarters’ budget and expenses throughout the year by engaging in analysis, reporting and frequent communication. The candidate should possess an analytical mind, an ability to communicate complex ideas to senior business leaders, and a desire to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities and Expected Areas of Competence


Function as a key supporting and business partnering member to Value, Access and Payment, Patient Assistance Foundation, State and Federal Payment Agency, BMS Political Action Committee and US Commercial Executive operations.

Oversee the development and reporting of the operating budgets and interim projections for Value, Access and Payment, Patient Assistance Foundation, State and Federal Payment Agency and Executive planning that incorporate each group’s and company's overall productivity objectives and business targets.

Engage in strategic partnering for structure and resource allocation decisions.

Develop financial reporting tools to increase process efficiency.

Identify risks & opportunities to the business.

Identify business trends, prepare and report monthly results and financial schedules that accurately and insightfully present variances to expected amounts for clear and quick decision-making.

Develops staff to reach their fullest potential and ensures all reporting deliverables and deadlines are met.

Ability to develop strong working relationships with internal finance & commercial partners.

Ability to influence others at all levels of the organization.


Experiences Desired


Experience in working for a multi-national company in Finance for at least 10 years and in a managerial position for at least 5 years.





Experience in using BMS financial systems – budgets, projections, actuals and supporting systems or similar systems at another MNC.

Flexibility and adaptability. High level of verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to be both clear and concise. Ability to interact with Senior Management at all levels in the Corporation. Strong presentation skills.

Demonstrated results in a matrix organization.


Knowledge Desired


University/College degree in accounting or business. CPA and or MBA preferred.

Experience and strong familiarity of financial analysis, modeling, processes (budget, P&L, strategic planning) sufficient to train and develop others.

In-depth understanding of operational business strategies and issues.High level of proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint, SAP BI, Hyperion Planning or equivalent budgeting systems.
