Job Description:
This role is responsible for managing the team Credit activities covering Allocate Cash and Debt Collect (ACDC) for International Marine and Aviation APME for Downstream East.
Actively support the Sales and Customer Operations organization on all Credit-related matters with respective teams. Actively support the Regional and Global Credit Managers and participation in the virtual regional and global credit teams. Overall accountability for credit operations activities and instilling the Credit Manager mindset of balancing risk and return in supporting business deliverables.
This role is responsible for managing the two key main Credit activities for Global Business (International Marine and Global Aviation) under FO scope, with primary accountabilities such as:
Execution of the appropriate risk mitigating actions identified, such as the negotiation and management of security necessary to support higher-risk exposures, and recommendations on accounts receivable bad debt provisions,
The analysis of customer overall credit exposure in relation to trading.
Ensuring business continuity by proactively and reactively managing review and action of blocked orders, and consequently dealing with risk implications associated with exposures beyond current approved credit limits.
Ensuring that cash allocation is completed in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with DCM
Efficient and effective management of the accounts receivable by managing collection activities, Minimising overdue debts, and negotiate and approve refinancing of Overdue Debts.
Continuously upskill self as well as the team ensuring that the team is able to rapidly adapt to new solutions or technologies.
Ensuring that the two key main Credit activities are fully controlled and compliant with the control framework in place.
The Team Manager will be overseeing a team of up 5 staff, with the main focus on individual and team development, thereby strengthening credit competencies, establishing “stretch” goals to drive performance and embedding a culture of “delivery to targets” via regular coaching and performance appraisal.
This position will also be responsible for engaging and managing effective relationships with key stakeholders within Finance Operations, Finance in the Business, and Sales, to ensure that alignment of objectives takes place, delivery of functional plan is achieved, and targets are met. The position will likewise be responsible for engaging and managing relationships with external Shell customers, to ensure that a balance of risk and reward is maintained and communicated
Principal Accountabilities:
Organization-Controls and Compliance
Responsible for establishing and adhering to a strong internal controls environment to ensure the integrity of financial results. Provides assurance that adequate and effective controls are in place to safeguard company assets.
Embed learnings and follow CCI procedure.
Ensure compliance with corporate and local policies and procedures.
Process
Responsible for the efficient and effective management of credit risk according to Downstream Credit Manual (DCM) and direction from the credit authorities.
Responsible for providing authorised approval for release of credit blocked orders and taking credit decisions, according to relevant MOA threshold.
Organize an effective and sustainable debts collection process, including allocation of payments.
Approve provisions when debts are considered doubtful, ensuring customers are regularly reassessed to determine provisions for recovery, in relevant timeframe (as per the DCM).
Ensures the completion, accuracy and timeliness of MI.
Supports Continuous Improvement Manager to achieve improvement in efficiency over time.
Client/External Focus
Keeps up-to-date knowledge about Customers' portfolios within the businesses by having close relationships with the sales managers and staying close to the industry.
Develops and fosters good working relationships with key internal and external contacts.
Build and develop networks with OTC, as well as a Sales organization, and Credit Business Centres.
People
Responsible for employee planning recruitment, training, cross-training and retention.
Translate company GPA into team GPA; align team & individual objectives to achieve organization goals.
Review and assess performance of team members, recognize, and manage underperformance.
