We deliver highly customized and comprehensive solutions to help clients with the many complexities they face by leveraging the commercial and investment banking capabilities of the firm. Role Description: The Wealth Management Legal team is seeking a lawyer to support the Wealth Management business covering APAC. The role is based in Hong Kong and is an AVP/ VP position. The successful applicant will have responsibility for: • Assistance with a wide range of support and advice to the Private Bank, including advising on legal and regulatory issues concerning the day-to-day operation of the Private Bank, and drafting and advising on client documentation.• Providing legal and regulatory advice with respect to new business initiatives, new products and platform arrangements; assisting with policy/ procedures development.• Advising on standard terms and conditions for a wide range of investment and lending products and handling complex business transactions as needed.• Advising on regulatory matters and cross-border activities.• Advising on legal and regulatory developments, including consumer legislation and jurisdictional reviews.• Advising on the development of policies, procedures and controls for the wealth management business.• Proactively identify issues related to the wealth management business and provide commercially pragmatic advice to the business.• Work closely with line of business and other control functions (Compliance, Supervision and Risk) as well as external service providers.• Working closely with business and the project team on various business projects; working closely with control functions on various risk and regulatory issues.• Coordination with local counsel in various jurisdictions on legal and regulatory issues for the wealth management business generally. • Coordination with and assistance to the legal teams in other parts of J.P. Morgan, especially on corporate projects. ','!*!Qualifications:• Qualified lawyer with 4 years of post-qualification experience gained at an international law firm and/or a leading financial institution;• Hong Kong law qualified preferred; other common law jurisdictions accepted;• Experience in wealth management business and regulatory matters preferred;• Strong communication skills and ability to convey complex issues clearly and concisely;• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively on projects with business executives and other lawyers;• Excellent drafting, negotiation and legal analytical skills with strong attention to detail;• Ability to work independently and escalate appropriately;• Ability to proactively manage competing priorities, project-manage and co-ordinate large projects, in a dynamic global environment;• Team player, confident and self-motivating with strong interpersonal skills;• Excellent written and spoken English; and• Written and spoken Chinese is an advantage. a.      CONFLICTS OF INTEREST:i.      Qualifications:  All candidates for roles in the Legal department must successfully complete a conflicts of interest clearance review prior to commencement of employment.  b.      LICENSING:i.      Qualifications:  JD or educational equivalent required.
