Lead role in our technical accounting function within Corporate Accounting group. This position will primarily be responsible for supporting Mergers & Acquisition work, which includes supporting a cross-functional team to execute a wide range of mission-critical and strategic M&A transactions including acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and minority investments. Additionally this position may be responsible for managing other technical accounting projects and analyses as needed, such as researching complex transactions and new accounting guidance, which entails independently assessing implications, documenting conclusions, communicating with the impacted businesses and corporate departments, training, managing an implementation plan, working proactively with external auditors to drive timely closure and supervising and developing other Corporate Accounting team members who may assist with the completion of the technical accounting reviews. The candidate must rely upon experience and judgment to plan and accomplish projects in a timely manner including the ability to work under tight deadlines. The candidate must have excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills as well as GAAP and SEC reporting knowledge. Strong written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills are essential to this position in order for the candidate to work collaboratively with others in technical accounting and broader corporate accounting teams, various departments and peers across Tyson, and with various third parties. Building and maintaining effective working relationships with various levels in the organization and being a champion of Tyson’s mission, core values, and team behaviors (the 5 Cs) are critical.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Requires broad knowledge in general professional or technical field. Also requires a Bachelors degree in an academic field directly related and essential to this position Accounting or Finance degree preferred.
Experience: 8 plus years of related experience preferred.
Computer Skills: Requires advanced computer skills; must have working ability with Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint and ability to perform technical research using various research tools; some working knowledge of SAP preferred.
Communication Skills: Excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal skills are essential to work with all levels of management peers and subordinates.
Special Skills: Significant in-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and transactional accounting processes are required. CPA designation preferred; must also have excellent analytical skills and good leadership skills. Project management skills are preferred.
Supervisory: May have future direct reports and must work in a TEAM with a wide variety of groups to accomplish responsibilities.
Travel: 4 plus domestic trips per year; possibility of international travel.
