Job Description:

What’s the role?

As Finance Advisor, you will coordinate the delivery of Finance support to the Projects and Turnaround organisation for Shell’s Energy and Chemicals Park Rheinland, helping to deliver top quartile turnaround and project delivery for a large investment programme with an annual spend of $200-250m.

Your experience and knowledge will be critical to challenge annual capital planning, understand the risk profile of capital projects, review economic and commercial assumptions of specific projects, and to correctly reflect the risks and opportunities in project economics. You play a crucial role together with Projects Services in ensuring that Project Controls are adequately deployed in our capital projects.

Furthermore, you will be part of project teams for large capital projects up to $75m, being the single point of contact in Finance, working alongside Business Opportunity Mangers and Project Managers.

What we need from you?

We’re keen to hear from candidates with expertise across the spectrum of finance competences and prior experience providing finance input to capital investment projects.

Beyond that, we’d want to hear from individuals who have the following:


With proven years of experience in different finance roles
Degree in Finance / Economics / Business Administration; professional Finance qualification would be a plus (e.g. CIMA, CMA or ACCA)
Ability to gain the confidence of various internal and external parties building on strong knowledge and understanding of the business drivers, value, and risk.
Maturity and authority to decide when to involve specialists and effectively play the independent Finance role.
Problem solving mindset with the courage to ensure professional financial rigor is applied to commercial decision-making process and risk management bringing analytics and insights to the table.
Project management skills and flexibility given the support across multiple activities/assets.
Ability to rapidly understand the specific business or function context for which activities in the pool concept are linked to.
