The job actively supports the Corporate Controller Germany


To be a key player in country controller organization to implement best-in–class finance processes and contribute towards the achievement of a world-class Finance function
To continue to look for opportunities to reduce complexities, to standardize & simplify what we do and to add value to the business
To give professional guidance and manage change and multiple reporting/compliance requirements with the business/ finance community through influence rather than direct control
To support and work with virtual teams in Finance Operations who are not direct reports to ensure production of timely, accurate and reliable financial reporting and compliance with local statutory and group reporting requirements within a robust financial control framework
To research / provide advise, interpretation and application of local statutory accounting requirements
To manage key relationship with internal and external parties and to be key interface with external auditors for financial reporting and statutory accounts across the business legal entities


Governance, Risk and Assurance


Ensure compliance to Shell Finance Controls Framework. Maintain an oversight over the accounting/financial control environment by keeping an overview of accounting and financial control issues/ problems arising from financial closing and business operations, bring these to close in the regular finance meetings with COB FMs.


Accounting Policy & Compliance


Drive implementation of the CMS (Compliance Management system) in collaboration with Tax and FO.
Provide Group and Statutory reporting principles guidance and ensure compliance across Germany.
Provide legal interpretation & guidance on any changes in local legislation affecting the statutory accounting
Co-ordination of internal and external audit, and external relationship management with auditors
Ensure that all statutory and legal returns are completed in accordance with local regulations


Management


Interface Management
with Business Partners, Finance Operations, FiB, Tax and coordination of internal and external communication with stakeholders. Key focal for interfaces with other Group stakeholders including Treasury, Insurance & Pension.


Corporate and Representation


Supervision of preparation of local reports
Manage dividend declaration, approval and payment submission process with Treasury support


Project Work


Support (by providing input, expertise, facilitate communication and resolution of issues) process Improvement Initiatives
Support group/finance/business initiatives, i.e. business model or portfolio, legal entities rationalisation etc.

Requirements:


Degree in the areas of Business, Finance or Accounting and/or MBA and/or professional certification(s) preferred with 5-10 years experience.
Strong technical knowledge, analytical skills and experience to provide accounting and financial advice to senior managers
Strong leadership capability, excellent communication and interpersonal skills including ability to deliver results under pressure.
Motivation and drive to deliver changes, to improve processes and results
Ability to work effectively with different cultures in a D&I compliant manner
Manage change in a dynamic business environment with complex laws and structures
Good knowledge of SAP R/3 and in particular the underlying accounting and business processes
Clear understanding of Internal Controls, Group Policy, Group Procedures and local fiscal reporting requirements
Recognised analytical skills, ability to understand complex business structures
Fully mastering the German & English language
Finance professional including proven strong Financial and Management Accounting knowledge and experience (esp. IFRS and German GAAP)
Strong team player
