Description

The Associate VP, Specialty Operations & Strategy collects, analyzes and reports on various market data to connect financial outcomes with operational effectiveness. The Associate VP, Specialty Operations & Strategy requires an in-depth understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across segments and/or enterprise-wide.

Responsibilities

This individual leads the strategic long-term financial and operational planning, as well as day-to-day operations across the Specialty organization. Works closely with the SVP Specialty to help orchestrate the operation of the Specialty organization and provide leadership that allows the SVP Specialty to focus on the most important aspects of leading the Group and Individual Specialty strategy for Humana. The role interfaces regularly with market and corporate leaders and will serve as proxy for leadership in key internal meetings.

Responsibilities:


Lead the Long-Term- Planning process and develop strategic and operational action plans and objectives for the business unit that supports its strategy.
Lead the Growth and Development Strategy for Group and Individual Specialty, evaluating and driving Market leading Specialty Group and Individual offerings for Growth.
Partner with Finance to establish and maintain management and performance controls by identifying, tracking, measuring, and analyzing data to highlight problems, and direct the development of process improvements.
Lead the financial administrative expense budgeting process and work with Finance to track FTE budget.
Partner with Group Analytics, Actuary, Underwriting, GBO and Sales to ensure tracking, coordination and reporting of metrics and goals in order to influence and drive improvement and positive results.
Evaluate other group and individual Specialty offerings that would improve overall portfolio needs of employer groups and individual consumers.
Confidently establish credibility, trust, and sufficient relationships to serve as a proxy for the Specialty SVP.
Lead, manage and coordinate the execution of strategic and operational initiatives that are strategic in nature, highly complex, and involve creation and oversight of multifaceted teams.
Partner with Employer Group leadership, Product, Actuary and Underwriting, Risk Management, GBO as well as aligned partners, to drive growth, strengthen customer experiences and improve profitability.
Collaborate closely with Retail Leadership to drive tighter partnership and increase growth in Specialty Medicare Advantage and Individual Specialty products.
Collaborate with EG and enterprise partners to continuously refine focus on prioritized opportunities to execute critical business initiatives that drive profitable growth.
Cultivate internal and external business relationships which will serve as resources for technical knowledge and performance improvement.
Direct the design and implementation of policies and procedures are properly integrated with other units and comply with federal and state regulatory requirements, which result in increased performance.


Requirements


Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, or related field.
10 years of experience in management, line of business management, finance, actuary and/or corporate strategy roles.
Proven track record of driving operational performance improvement.
Experience with leading major initiatives essential.
Hands-on, self-motivated, smart and emotionally intelligent individual who thrives in a fast-moving, dynamic environment within a complex and fast-changing industry.
Experience with business planning, forecasting and analytics.
Knowledge of Medicare and understand the annual bid process.
Knowledge of Group and Medicare products.
Experience taking complex data and making it more accessible, understandable and usable for leaders to derive insights.
In-depth understanding of partner-functions within and outside the segment. Understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across segments and enterprise-wide.
Deep knowledge of the health insurance industry, competitive landscape and trends within the provider community.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Ability to collaborate in a positive manner.


Additional Information:
