Job Description:

Job Purpose:

This role is responsible in performing day to day operational requirements for Upstream Joint Venture Accounting (JVA) North America for Shell Non- Operated JV assets, with the following primary accountabilities:


Maintain sound data, ensuring accurate and timely reports to stakeholders
Ensure data consistency by incorporating quality checks to process
Complete, quality and timely required reports submission to key stakeholders
Ensure expenses are within the approved budget and accurately recorded
Identify disputes and manage resolution with JV operators and key action owners
Accurate recording of non-operated venture Joint Interest Billing account balances
Ensuring that cash calls/JIBs are received and paid within agreed terms
Accurate and timely postings of required manual journal entries and ensure approval within MOA
Analyse and address aging of account reconciliation balance.
Monitor and validate Non-Consent statements from JV operators ensuring timely notification to appropriate parties and action.


This position will also be responsible for effective relationships with JVA NAM and key stakeholders within Finance Operations, Asset Finance in the Business, Midstream, Controllers teams, Land and Commercial teams, to ensure that alignment of objectives, delivery of functional plan and targets are met.

Principal Accountabilities:

Process


Manage JV Partner debtor/vendor request set-up
Request for Authority for Expenditure (AFE) or supplement and cost center set-up
Validation and Recording Joint Interest Billings
Manage payment processing for Cash Call/JIB
Raise and manage disputes with JV operators
Manage month-end activities
Preparation of required reports
Compliance to internal and SOX controls.
Address issues and errors on Master Data
Identify control weaknesses and recommend appropriate changes
Actively participate in the monthly MI or other relevant stakeholders meeting
Monthly Portfolio Analysis meeting with Team Manager
Compliance to internal and SOX controls.


Continuous Improvement


Identify and execute process improvements to deliver efficiency and effectiveness value
Successful execution of process streamlining with continuous improvement mindset
Identify control weaknesses and recommend appropriate changes


Client/External Focus


Keeps up-to-date knowledge about Joint Venture portfolio within the businesses.
Develops and fosters good working relationships with key internal and external contacts.
Build and develop networks with FitB, Land and Commercial team, Midstream, Hydrocarbons and other FO interconnected functions.
Build and maintain Connected Finance culture.
Identify and execute best practices to leverage SOV with NOV process.
Maintain an office environment supportive of diversity and inclusiveness
Support a safe working environment.
Additional: The role needs to learn the assets and country JVA methodology and acquire the required knowledge to transition the JVA activities successfully from FO-R&A. Strong stakeholder engagement is essential.


Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

Qualifications


Degree/qualifications in Accounting/Finance preferred
1-2 plus years work experience in related accounting processes
Sound understanding of Joint Venture Accounting process.
Must have experience in a multi-national company – preferably in Shared Services environment.
Exhibits excellent English communications skills (written and oral).
Good knowledge of controls framework.
Ability to work under high pressure an in a rapidly changing environment.
SAP and Microsoft office skill set are necessary, preferably advanced excel
