As a Senior Software Engineer you will be working with on developing our next generation product, working alongside a talented development team. Days will be spent developing key components of a platform that will allow Humana to better understand and improve our members health. As part of the engineering team you will collaborate with team members, integrate with DevOps processes, and develop of secure, reliable, and scalable code.
On any given day you may:
Hands-on platform development
Collaborating with team members to level up our overall skill set
Submit pull requests and working closely with Tech Leads integrate feedback
Dig into platform issues to understand the cause of the issue, not the symptom
Adapt quickly to new improvements in our development pipelines and practices
Investigate and propose new ideas, frameworks, technologies, or processes
What you bring to the table
You are a senior engineer with 5 or more years of experience with Cloud-based big data platform development. You are capable of contributing to significant development milestones and goals. You can work with autonomy to get things done while collaborating with others on design and implementation patterns. You are comfortable with giving and receiving feedback from your teammates and others in the organization. You can think on your feet and conceptualize what needs to be done from incomplete and evolving requirements. You hit deadlines and communicate effectively.
The successful candidate will also have experience with:
Azure Cloud Services
Designing solutions architecture
Building big data platform
Building RESTful APIs
Working with Infrastructure and security as code
Designing data models

Bachelor's Degree or above (Computer Science, Bio Engineering, Electronics and Electrical Engineering or any related field)
Proficient understanding and tech-lead level experience in one or more programming languages (Java, Scala, Python etc.)
5 years of Cloud-based big data platform development experience
Experience with JSON, RESTful web services and client-server interactions
Knowledge of various persistence (RDBMS, noSQL, HDFS, Cassandra, Redis)
Understanding Data Catalog, Data Governance, Data Lineage
Experience with security, authentication in data platform
Experience with building stream-processing systems, using solutions such as Spark-Streaming or Flink
Experience with integration of data from multiple data sources
Experience with building data lakes and data warehouses by leveraging any of the major cloud providers (GCP, AWS or Azure) is highly desirable
Familiar with Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, HBase etc.), especially Spark
Good basics of operating systems and network
Good knowledge of Big Data querying tools
Knowledge of and experience with Azure
Knowledge of various ETL techniques
Knowledge of messaging systems, such as Kafka or RabbitMQ

Experience with Spring/Spring Boot
Experience with highly scalable web services
API design and development
Environment management/orchestration systems (Kubernetes, etc.)
Experience with testing frameworks and code quality tools
Experience with continuous integration environment and tools
Experience with Oracle, PostgresSQL, Mongo development and optimization
Familiarity with Healthcare (FHIR), Clinical or Financial industry
Experience with agile development practices
Familiarity with Git
Knowledge of JIRA and Confluence
Reporting Relationships
You will report to an Associate Director, SW Engineering.
