SUMMARY:

This position will report to the Director of Commodity Purchasing and manage the merchandising and execution for the Local Grain Services (LGS) cross country merchandising program. Position requires direct supervision of grain originators and a logistics coordinator. The team will secure supply to Tyson feed mill locations as well as merchandising grains to maximize profits through external sales opportunities.

Responsibilities include: Develop and implement merchandising, logistics, and supply chain security strategies for new markets; manage the purchase-to-pay process for grains, promoting Tyson LGS beyond the current marketing base; maintaining comprehensive understanding of grain market prices and markets affecting origination. Other duties include: Develop and maintain daily grain bid sheets; coordinate deliveries and shipments with the logistics coordinator and feed mill operations; approve transactions made by originators and monitor activity related to contracting; review and utilize market reports to collect market intelligence, communicate viewpoints of physical and futures markets supply and demand short and long-term price drivers to grain origination team. Providing input on grain procurement strategies and program execution. Taking on additional job responsibilities as directed by supervisor. This position will also be responsible for measuring and reporting category savings on a weekly basis.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Ag Business, Economics or Ag production.

Experience: 7 plus years preferred, with four years in Agribusiness

Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; will represent Tyson as an ambassador of CTRM while interfacing with other Tyson team members and external parties.

Computer Skills: Requires standard computer skills and experience with Microsoft office

Special Skills: A general understanding of the agriculture transportation system in the U.S. will be required to assist in making decisions; understanding the fundamentals of supply and demand and how these factors influence price levels for grain complex - both domestic and international.

Supervisory: YesTravel: 5 to 6 trips per year.
