at University of Montana is seeking to fill a
L
ecturer
position in Finance with an August 2023 start date. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at both undergraduate and master’s levels and engage in professional and service activities. We will consider applicants with either a practitioner or academic background. We expect this position to be 0.7 to 0.8 FTE.
Required qualifications:
Master's or Ph.D. in finance or a closely related discipline (e.g., economics, accounting, or business) from an accredited university
Teaching experience or interest in at least two of the following areas: principles of finance, corporate finance, banking, financial analytics, real estate finance
Recent, relevant professional experience in finance in industry or academia
Candidate must be available to teach in-person classes on our Missoula, Montana campus.
Preferred qualifications:
Teaching quality demonstrated by recent teaching evaluations and/or awards.
Demonstrated commitment to serving the needs of diverse students (e.g., Native Americans, first generation college students, non-traditional aged students, military veterans).
Demonstrated ability to engage with the business community
Professional certification (e.g., CFA)
Excellent written and oral communication
Willingness to work with student groups, finance competition teams, and engage with CFA institute to manage the finance major’s participation in the CFA Institute’s University Affiliation Program
Graduate degree earned at a university accredited by AACSB International
The position is a non-tenure track position, and will be subject to the collective bargaining agreement which outlines faculty teaching, service expectations, and research responsibilities. We expect the lecturer to maintain AACSB qualifications under the College of Business faculty qualifications policy.
Salary is dependent on qualifications and is comparable with peer universities in the region.

UM College of Business offers a bachelor’s degree with a finance major. Finance courses are also required in the MBA program.
