Job Description:
If you have a passion for understanding complex application landscapes and driving architectural changes to help deliver major ERP and business process transformations, aligned with the Information & Digital Technology (IDT) strategy, this could be your chance to make your mark in the energy industry. You will grow in a supportive global company powering the lives of millions.
Where you fit in
As we transition to cleaner forms of energy, the challenge facing the energy industry in the coming decades is considerable. Integrated Gas (IG) in Australia is a key enabling transition business in Shell’s strategy to powering progress with our energy transition.
The IDT Applications Advisor plays a pivotal role supporting the IDT Shell Australia leadership team in partnering with business and functional stakeholders to prepare for Asset Digital Core (ADC), Shell’s global SAP S/4HANA initiative. You will help shape and collaboratively co-create the IDT Australia Strategic plans and the project portfolio to prepare the business for ADC whilst minimizing the change impact and identifying opportunities to reduce technical debt.
You are a self-starter who is an advocate of the ‘One Team mindset’, working across natural teams to help Shell use data and digital technology in new ways of working to enable the right business outcomes, yield value and support a more streamlined business.
You play a key supporting role in the IDT Shell Australia leadership team and are expected to consistently role model and lead by example with a deep commitment to our vales, code of conduct, safety, the environment, and simplification, visibly demonstrated through the 9 principles of human performance.
What’s the role?
As the IDT Advisor you will work closely with both global and local teams to help understand and prepare for the implementation of ADC (SAP S/4HANA).
You will maximize value and minimize risk from the ADC program of work across Australia IG Assets by working with IDT Managers and key stakeholders to define the post ADC application and business process target landscapes, including advising on the changes required to transition to the post ADC landscape (integrations, data, and support models) whilst remaining compliant with cyber security and architectural constraints.
You have a good understanding of how business applications work together to support business processes, and how these are impacted by a global ERP implementation which includes business process simplification and standardization.
You possess a good understanding of the energy / oil and gas or resources business model and industry landscape, including the role of safety culture, strategic priorities / challenges and their relationship to the wider business and competitive landscape.
You work alongside local, business-facing natural teams to understand the business vision and deliver key outcomes aligned to the goals of the global Asset Digital Core team, your success being evident in successful implementation of ADC whilst maintaining or improving business KPI’s; identifying possible technology/data investments or optimization opportunities; and implementing technology / data interventions that improve business change impacts.
Your immediate challenges as IDT Advisor are:
To support the IDT Shell Australia leadership team in developing current and target state application and integration landscapes for QGC & Prelude that will inform the necessary preparation work for ADC implementation
Identifying and articulating opportunities to simplify and reduce the risk associated with ADC
To work closely with business and global stakeholders to support establishment of effective governance of work related to ADC.
This business facing role can be based in Perth or Brisbane and will work with the IDT leadership team and across an Australia wide team who work on the business portfolio supporting QGC, Prelude Assets and Australia based non-operating ventures (NOV’s).
What we need from you
When it comes to collaborative business partnering it’s your ability to tell compelling stories about the opportunities possible from the adoption of SAP S/4HANA and related technologies and your excellent people skills that will make the difference. You will role model and enable others to adopt customer centric, pragmatic, agile, high performance work practices.
Furthermore, you will have:
Extensive experience working in senior IT management / business consulting / advisory roles
Several years of experience working with major ERP implementation projects, preferably in an Architect or Senior Business Analyst role
Demonstrable understanding of the practical use, design and deployment of SAP systems, including project governance and systems integration
Certification in an appropriate technical discipline (e.g., TOGAF, ITIL Expert, PMP, SAP Solution Architect)
Familiarity with modelling standards such as BPML and Archimate notation is advantageous
Deep commitment to Goal Zero safety and personal accountability
In addition, it would be beneficial for you to have:
Business Partnering: Customer centric approach to building strong collaborative partnerships with business stakeholders, especially in high pressure / uncertain situations such as major landscape changes.
Technology Practitioner: Tells a compelling narrative that translates a technology-enabled vison into delivery of successful business outcomes. Sound knowledge of Enterprise IDT strategy and architecture to facilitate opportunities across IDT natural teams and functional lines that promote the adoption of IDT solutions and services and reduce risk associated with major ERP changes.
People Change Management: Excellent interpersonal, presentation skills and written communication skills coupled, with the ability to engage and influence directly and indirectly across a wide spectrum of stakeholders. A commitment to authentic, honest, open, and transparent communication.
Agile Team Player: Is courageous self-starter who is willing to challenge the status quo to adopt new ways of working that fosters co-creation, creativity and engagement to positively influence team culture.
