Care Management Analytics is looking for an Associate Director of Data Science to lead a team of data scientists who building machine learning models and run advanced analyses to drive business operations to help our members avoid future adverse health events. The Associate Director must be able to effectively communicate with business strategy and operations partners to help define and understand business problems being encountered. The Associate Director must then translate this to the team of data scientist to support the business needs for either building models or completing advanced analyses.

Responsibilities

Enterprise-wide, Humana has invested in its data science and machine learning capabilities to drive enterprise program and strategic business decisions. This investment has resulted in the creation of a world class platform for building machine learning models and running advanced analyses.

The Care Management Analytics team uses this platform to support business needs by building cutting-edge machine learning models which are used to power operational programs. These programs support Humana members by referring clinical services to members and helping them avoid future health events such as hospital admissions or emergency services. The data science team building these models is looking for an experienced leader who can be hands on to help them drive their projects to be successful and deliver value to our members.

This Associate Director should be someone who is passionate about helping people and be passionate about developing a team of data scientist. This leader should be well versed in data science techniques and their application in business settings, preferably healthcare. This leader should also have experience and success communicating complex data science topics to non-technical audiences. A key to success in this role will be one's ability to communicate to various audiences to inform or persuade based on analytic results.

Required Qualifications


Bachelor's Degree in math, statistics, computer science, data science, actuarial science
6 or more years of technical experience
3 or more years of healthcare experience
2 or more years of management experience
Python expertise
Databricks experience
Experience on cloud environments
Experience in creating reports, projections, models, and presentations to support business strategy and tactics
Experience in identifying and resolving complex technical and operational problems within departments
Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences


Preferred Qualifications


Master's Degree or Ph.D.


Additional Information

Humana and its subsidiaries require vaccinated associates who work outside of their home to submit proof of vaccination, including COVID-19 boosters. Associates who remain unvaccinated must either undergo weekly negative COVID testing OR wear a mask at all times while in a Humana facility or while working in the field.
