Summary:
Under the direction of the Associate Director of Financial Aid, this position provides quality service to prospective and current students, requiring excellent communication skills and attention to detail. Follows student aid program practices and policies including federal, state and university regulations to accurately assist clients. Works collaboratively with the entire team to successfully perform various financial aid office duties.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Assist in the daily operations of the office by answering the phone and email, staffing live chat or responding to social media, and staffing the front desk as necessary.
Provides exceptional customer service while ensuring students understand all policies and procedures related to their financial aid application. Determines the customer's individual need and provides accurate guidance and appropriate forms.
Understand packaging principles, perform financial calculations, and reconcile financial accounts.
Assess student financial aid eligibility and identify award adjustments when necessary.
Review student accounts annually for continued eligibility for all merit scholarship programs; manage communications to students regarding outcome of review including data entry on student accounts.
Collaborate with various campus offices, particularly Admissions, the Business Office and the Registrar.
Reviews documentation submitted to ensure the student submitted what is required to complete verification, appeals, or to clear eligibility edits. Must be able to accurately and concisely instruct students and parents on steps to complete while avoiding jargon.
Performs various data entry and student application record updates. Accurately completes work assigned within prescribed timeframes. Adheres to student confidentiality protocols.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education Requirement:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to understand, interpret, and effectively administer financial aid programs governed by federal, state, institutional and private financial aid regulations and policies.
Demonstrated ability and desire to provide quality and caring service to students and other constituents.
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Proficient in Ellucian Banner, CampusLogic, and other software to complete work. Familiarity with professional federal financial aid administration websites such as COD, NSLDS, CPS, NJFAMS, and ELM.
Salary:
Range P16 ($45,521-$51,695)
