Job Description:
Senior Team Manager role is accountable for indirect Tax filing & reporting for assigned countries within EMEA/LATAM region with the team of avg. 10 employees responsible for Tax compliance, payments, audit and selected Tax Advisory activities.
Delivery of annual Shell Tax reporting & filing obligations results in submission of 40k returns/reports & 20k payments and management of 50b USD Tax amounts. Most of these requirements relate to Manage Indirect Tax (MIT) – value & volume Taxes managed from all 4 Shell Business Operations centers. Our global Tax team of 600 colleagues is professionally very skilled, resilient and committed to timely & quality delivery of our process outcomes. We have well established CI mindset culture and drive for further competencies development. Additionally, MIT is undergoing global digitalization program 4T (Transforming Tax Technology Together).
Key accountabilities of the Senior Tax Manager:
Accountability for indirect Tax compliance in the region:
Drive high quality, timely compliance targets execution for migrated scope
Supervise compliance delivery in „remote countries” in the region incl. management of 3rd parties
Proactively cooperate within Tax, FO, Finance & Group to optimize compliance processes and drive ESSA
Responsibility for timely and quality delivery of other tax activities e.g. Audit, Advise, etc. including building effective management of these activities together with onshore stakeholders
Build & maintain close working relationship with CTLs dedicated to assigned countries and manage Tax compliance accountabilities for them
Proactively drive automation developments and co-create FO Tax digitalization vision
Ensure delivery of compliance metrics and efficiency targets
Manage controls and risks for assigned scope
Promote learning mindset and optimize learnings from errors, incidents and near misses
Proactively engage in external benchmarking initiatives
Lead of team of Tax Specialists delivering excellent Top Quartile process
Requirements:
Degree in Finance/Accountancy, with at least 8 years' business experience in Finance area
At least 2 years of experience in people managing area
Understanding of the current end-2-end Finance processes/systems/data framework
Excellent communications/stakeholder engagement skills, both written and oral
Excellent strategic, analytical, problem solving, continuous improvement and critical thinking
Self-starter, effectively balancing highly independent management of assigned region with close pro-active collaboration with FO TLT and other strategic forums/frameworks
Tax (e.g. VAT, WHT, Excise Duties, Direct Tax, Reporting) experience preferred but not mandatory
Effective & passionate line manager (demonstrate high leadership qualities, leading through change, secure team’s well-being, care and work/life balance, ensure sustainable knowledge management & continuous growth of staff capabilities)
Building & maintaining highly effective stakeholders’ network
Actively develop Tax & business expertise relevant to assigned countries
Proactively share knowledge & expertise with peers & colleagues
Fluent English
