The Unit does a large number of presentations, both internally and to external customers in the UK and Ireland. It provides considerable support to Treasury, in particular the liquidity and funding desk and CTS. It is also actively involved in investor relations work and meetings.

It is also required to engage in a significant amount of media work on behalf of the bank, especially with regard to the monthly manufacturing and services PMI surveys that AIB sponsors.

The team is small, comprising a Chief Economist, Senior Economist and Economist, but plays a critical role within the bank in regard to stress testing/ECLs/Planning, engaging with institutional investors, briefings for CEO/CFO/Board, analysis of economic risks facing the bank and its customers (e.g. Brexit, Covid-19, interest rate environment) as well as engagements with customers and the media.
