Within the job family of B2B/B2C Trading and Supply, a range of Commercial positions can be found such as those in Sales and Marketing which aims to attract and retain customers, build long-term customer loyalty and create demand for Shell’s Trading and Supply products; Business Development which looks to identify new opportunities as well as to leverage more from existing accounts; and Strategy which aims to provide expert problem-solving and project management support for the highest priority strategic issues.
What’s the role?
Member of the Shell Energy Americas Business Integration & Assurance (BIA) team of business risk and controls specialists and analysts who are responsible for implementation, monitoring, and management of daily controls for operational and/or compliance risks associated with trading of natural gas, electricity, and environmental products.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
Work closely with LOD2 Operational Risk and Market Risk to transition LOD1 activities not currently within LOD1 BIAm.
Implement Operational Risk LOD1 Control Framework through design and best practice business controls.
Operate and monitor existing business controls to include: operating business critical processes, generating reports, analyzing data, identifying trends, insights, issues, gaps and recommending mitigations.
Create and improve standard operating procedure documentation for LOD1 controls.
Identify opportunities for business control process efficiencies and automation.
Facilitate implementation of enhancements and automation for improving workflows and reporting.
Assist in ensuring front office teams understand the operational risk in their business.
Engage with stakeholders across the organization as necessary to fulfill responsibilities.
Working closely with other members of BIA team to deliver team objectives and business results.
Identify stakeholders and build relationships to deliver fit for purpose and high-quality service.
What we need from you?
A degree in Finance, Business or related field from an accredited university
At least 3 years of relevant experience.
Experience in a trading or banking environment with solid understanding of business processes, risk management, business controls, and regulatory requirements.
Proficient with MS Excel and other office products.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Strong stakeholder management skills with all levels of staff and management.
Team player, disciplined, self-starter and results oriented.
Demonstrated learning agility in high stress, ambiguous and unfamiliar situations.
Ability to understand and interpret complex trade related activities.
Market Risk, Credit Risk or Operational Risk experience working in a gas and power trading environment is preferred but not a must.
Experience in commodities markets, derivative products, trading platforms and operations is preferred.
Experience working in a regulated commercial business is preferred but not a must.
Experience with business process mapping, gap analysis, design, and implementation is preferred but not a must.
