Responsibilities:
Ensure the timely and accurate coding and entry of accounting transactions into the Oracle accounting system and reported in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the accounts payable cycle and department; work with internal resources and as needed, outside consultants to document and improve internal controls around the accounts payable and cash disbursement cycles; ensure that the internal controls surrounding these cycles are in accordance with Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
Works with the purchasing department to ensure all invoices match corresponding purchase orders and have proper approvals in accordance with the Company’s signing authority policy.
Records and reviews all transactional accruals for operating expenses and capital expenditures, as needed.
Reviews journal entries for proper account distribution.
Responsible for monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounts payable close out procedures and records.
Responsible for year-end 1099 reporting and B notice resolution.
Determines appropriate general ledger accounts to book entries.
Performs month end close functions, including reconciliation of accounts payable, accrual of appropriate invoices and research of financial statement expenses.
Research, resolve, manage and respond to vendor inquiries.
Manage the review and processing of employee travel and expense reimbursements.
Ad-hoc reporting and assist with special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
6 years of work experience reflecting consistent increases in responsibility, including overseeing a dynamic payables department, preferably in a multi-company environment.
Bachelor’s degree in Business/Accounting/Finance or equivalent experience preferred.
Familiar with Oracle ERP software a plus.
Experience with MS Office.
Capable of working independently.
Experience managing staff and successfully motivating a team.
Strong leadership and customer service skills.
Proven record of initiating process improvements.
Strong analytical, organization and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
