The Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis - Consumer USA
is responsible for all financial planning and analysis for the US Consumer business. In addition, this position is responsible for managing the process and accounting related to selling prices, and marketing and sales expenses. This position provides a key decision support function within the business unit and operates as an owner of the P&L’s.
The mandate of this position is to work closely with management in Sales, Marketing, Product Development, Logistics and Mill Finance to provide the required financial information, analysis and advice in order to make financially sound decisions for the US business unit. This includes new product launches; changes to products, customers and categories; valuing the impact of Sales and Operations planning decisions; and understanding all costs, with the goal of improving the overall financial performance of the US Consumer business.
Responsibilities Include:
Manage the AIM P&L process as Finance gatekeeper and advise/prepare pricing quotes for new business opportunities. Implement any new financial modelling or reporting required within the AIM process.
Carry out process improvement and implement IT tools for the organization to improve accuracy and efficiency, and deploy systems knowledge in creating robust planning and analysis, for both management reporting and forecasting.
Maintain, design and develop profitability reporting for the organization. Create and manage reports and self-serve systems to meet user’s independent needs.
Work with the Mill Controllers and SFA Logistics to provide decision support on all Sales and Operations planning decisions.
Integrate all aspects of the P&L analysis into this role including detailed manufacturing cost analysis
Prepare and analyse budgets and actual results including product and customer P&L’s and tracking results against targets and KPI’s, and present at monthly or quarterly category reviews.
Manage the US Consumer month-end process ensuring adherence to accounting policies and corporate timelines with related information distribution.
Oversee the administration of selling prices, discounts, freight conditions and upcharges and market list price changes.
Resolve pricing issues on demand to facilitate transaction timeliness, customer response and reduce delays. Provide issue resolution support to AR/AP/Customer Service department’s queries.
Work on value-creation program / cost-reduction initiatives for the business.
Oversee all cost center activity related to marketing and selling budgets/actuals/variance analysis, reporting and trending activities.
Manage the PVM (Price, Volume, Mix) reporting analysis on a weekly/monthly basis to facilitate identification of action items related to financial results.
Analyze mill costing and develop processes to further improve cost management and speed up cost information flow to business unit senior management.
Scrutinize and improve Material Master Data to ensure accuracy, best practices and correct lineage of data.
Oversee the management of the US Broker Commissions, US Consumer Rebate program and Sales Bonus Programs.
Manage, train and develop Finance staff within the team.
Analyze and Develop Financial Models for specific Major Projects for the US Business; including M&A
Additional Information:
Net Revenue of Cdn. $500 million, approximately 40% of Total Company revenue.
Production sites supporting the Consumer USA business: 4 mills (Memphis, Sherbrooke, Crabtree & Gatineau).
Annual Marketing and S,G&A cost centre budget: $13 million
$40 million EBITDA contribution annually
This position has payment and purchasing signing authority of $25,000.
Qualifications Required Include:
University degree in business, accounting or finance
Accounting designation (CPA) required
7-10 years of general business experience with 5 years accounting and Finance experience including at least 3 years as a Manager/Supervisor of staff.
Experience in a manufacturing environment
Strong analytical background, business oriented
Ability to communicate effectively, strong interpersonal skills to deal with all levels of management.
High level systems / IT/ process improvement proficiency. Strong working knowledge of SAP and excellent computer skills. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs
Ability to challenge the status-quo, adept/creative at finding ways to incorporate financial and non-financial data to analyze business opportunities/decisions
Ability to lead, challenge and positively influence in a team environment, including coaching and staff development.
