Corporate & Investment Bank Credit Risk is responsible for lending activities and related credit exposures. The Global Commodities Credit Risk Team manages product-specific credit risks and engages with credit officers throughout all Bank lines of business globally covering all industry types to provide input on product structure, documentation, and market convention as it relates to commodities transactions. The Executive Director will leverage his/her industry/product expertise and credit knowledge to, both individually and through leadership of others, deliver in-depth credit analysis, make competent credit decisions, ensure continuous process improvement, maintain a robust compliance culture, and deliver a first-class experience for partners and colleagues Job Responsibilities: Reporting directly to the Global Commodities Credit Executive, serve as primary Commodities Credit Officer for the Americas. Engage with credit officers throughout all Bank lines of business globally covering all industry types to provide advice and input as a Subject Matter Expert on product structure, documentation, and market convention as it relates to commodities transactions. Communicate a consistent credit risk decisioning approach to Global Commodities Group (GCG) credit requests across the Firm. Promote a better understanding of the GCG business, its strategy, and associated risk-return dynamics within the Credit Risk Organization (CRO). Assist in development, build-out, and maintenance of the risk management process, policy, and infrastructure supporting all GCG businesses globally. Liaise with counterparts in Europe, Asia, and across the Americas to drive consistency in credit standards, policy, and documentation; share best practices; provide thought leadership; and introduce and implement effective and efficient processes.Take a leading role in significant financing and other structured GCG transactions, driving an appropriate risk-return dynamic through structuring and complex documentation negotiation, particularly as it relates to secured transactions including but not limited to power plant project hedging, precious metals leasing, oil/gas volumetric production payments, and trade portfolio acquisitions.Lead and present to senior management a quarterly risk review that details exposure metrics across the global Firm-wide commodities portfolio analyzing trends, drivers, and concentrations.Manage and approve a portfolio of commodities-only clients across various industries including natural resources, trading, municipals, and financial institutions. Evaluate and manage credit related to physical and financial commodities transactions of all types. Oversee ongoing counterparty and industry credit analysis, establishment of trading limits, monitoring of credit exposures, and management of excesses.Represent Commodities CRO and project-manage deliverables on new product and other GCG initiatives; coordinate with other risk and GCG support groups globally including Operations, Business Management, Legal, and Product Control. Maintain active working relationship with the Structuring, Sales, and Trading teams in GCG as a key business partner. Responsible for the continuing education of the commodities desk with respect to credit risk management, systems, and procedures.Management responsibility for Americas Commodities Credit team. Requirements:
Bachelor’s
Degree from an accredited university/college required.10
years of professional work experience in credit/counterparty risk, commodities,
and derivative products required. Physical power and gas experience a plus. In-depth
understanding of financial products and structuring. Strong grasp of market
risk a plus.Experience
working with and negotiating master trading agreements typical of the energy
trading industry, including the ISDA, NAESB, and EEI agreements, including
secured structured transactions. Knowledge of Letter of Credit documentation a plus.Understanding
of front office processes and ability to balance necessities of credit risk
management with commercial requirements. Ability to build rapport and influence
change.Exceptional
analytical aptitude and ability to think abstractly and project various
what-if scenarios. Strong organizational skills, ability to learn
quickly, and a high level of attention to detail.Excellent
communication (written, oral, and listening) and interpersonal skills a must.
Skillful written communication is necessary; the ability to convey thoughts
clearly and succinctly and to communicate pertinent complex information in a
clear and organized manner to partners who have different backgrounds, risk
understanding, skill sets, and priorities.Self-motivated
with the ability to work independently while understanding when to involve
other team members as needed and to work effectively in a team environment
(both in person and remotely). Desire and willingness to take ownership of
various credit risk responsibilities.Ability
to perform well under pressure individually and on teams in a demanding
environment. Flexible and able to respond to changes in priorities.Track
