The Category Specialist provides retail sales and operational expertise to one business category. This Category Specialist will support the Health category. The health category is made up of wearables, fitness, healthy lifestyle and family health. This role will run the day-to-day category activities and focuses on execution of tactical plans for the health category. This role supports the Category Manager as required with broader business initiatives and project work.

The Category Specialist works cross-functionally with retail stores, vendors, merchant and marketing operations, demand planning, IT, finance, HR, services, retail operations, and other company partners to enable execution of business plans in retail.

This role is not able to be remote eligible long term, so the ideal candidate would be local to the Minneapolis/St, Paul area. The ideal candidate for this role will also have a background and strong interest in the health industry. This could include fitness, nutrition, nursing, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

Category Support and Execution Execute daily, weekly, and monthly category responsibilities in partnership with manager and team. These activities include but are not limited to: Training for sales, vendors, products, and category strategies and plans.
Communications in all vehicles and to all audiences
Management of 2nd, 3rd, and vendor provided labor
Vendor relationships, negotiations, and program fulfillment for retail training and events plans.
Retail support and issue resolution
Retail tools, process, and SOP
Merchandising support
Omni-channel sales strategy and tools
Monitors retail feedback integration points and provides insight and opportunities to manager and partners.
Design category plans, tools, and tactics to yield a positive employee and customer experience.
Provide category teams and other partners with sales and operational perspective, advice, and limits regarding sales proficiency, retail capacity, and ability to execute plans. Ensure corporate actions and directions are deployed consistent with retail SOP and parameters.
Develop ongoing working relationship with category vendors as required to support day to day operational business needs and more strategic initiatives.
Hold category vendors accountable to operational standards.
Works with cross-functionally with teams and contributes to sales, operational process, and strategy for product launches, business category strategies, and strategic initiatives.
Develop and maintain infrastructure and tools to maximize business across the category.
Coordinates key run the business operational activities in support of the broader category support team.
Category Strategy Act as strategic sales and operational SME for short term category projects, strategies, or initiatives.
Partner with category teams and partners as required as well as vendors and other external partners to co-develop holistic plans and tactics.
Ensure business, retail, and vendor strategies are aligned in support of the employee and customer experience.
Act as sales and operational SME and represent retail feedback throughout decision making process.
Field Support Responsible for working with retail stores and multi-unit leaders to solicit feedback, collaborate on plans, and resolve local needs.
Accountable to providing swift responses and issue resolution in all retail support and communications vehicles for category responsibilities.
Accountable for providing guidance, answers, and support to retail stores and multi-unit leaders for all areas of responsibility.
Responsible for after hours on-call support as needed or process dictates.
Minimum Requirements 2 or more years of experience in Business, Retail, Sales, Operations, or related experience
Preferred Requirements 1 or more years of Financial management experience with P&L responsibilities.
1 or more years of Project management or cross-functional team experience.
1 or more years of Retail supervisory or management experience.
1 or more years of Vendor or external partner management
Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, Exercise Science or other health related field
Experience with fitness, cardiovascular training, nutrition and program design
