Shell’s Corporate Finance department is recruiting at the crucial time for Shell and its fast evolving strategic direction. It is tasked with leading through Energy Transition and emergence of new and evolving business models in New Energies.
Where you fit in
As Corporate Finance Analyst, you’ll be part of the Shell Corporate Finance Team, based in London, focussing on the strategic aspects of Group Financing and Treasury.
The Shell Corporate Finance Team tackles complex problems in original ways. We have ownership and accountability for the Group corporate structure, the corporate finance strategy and policy agenda, and management of external banking and investment banking relationships. The team leads the interface with the external debt capital markets and provides crucial input into Group valuation questions. We also participate in designing the Group’s equity story for shareholders.
What’s the role?
Within Corporate Finance, you are expected to share your expertise and experience in all areas of corporate finance for a range of international challenges. Working both independently, yet as an integral part of a team, you’ll develop collaborative relationships with a range of senior stakeholders, including those close to and at Executive Committee level. You will have the opportunity to manage or participate in cross-function/cross-business projects with both Shell and external participants, working with, for example, the planning, legal and tax teams.
Your Further Responsibilities Includes:
Providing input into strategic corporate finance considerations as a part of a team in specific projects looking at application of valuation, capital structure, capital allocation framework, cost of capital and lease considerations.
Providing input and co-ordinating regular equity market analysis for the EC and senior executives outlining market performance of the Group relative to its peers (e.g. quarterly reporting cycles, material events), working closely with investment banks and brokers.
Involvement in Group level projects, such as Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) transactions, where there could be material impact to group financial strategy and equity market story.
Analytical support for decision-making concerning the financial strategy, evaluation and development of Shell’s equity story.
Providing analytical support using external data sources (Bloomberg, CapIQ, Refinitiv).
Regular interactions with investment banks and other professional advisers.
Supporting presentations made to senior management teams and/or the Board on corporate finance matters.
We value career growth in Shell. You'll have limitless opportunities to explore both in terms of function and geography. Whether that means building up new areas of expertise within Finance, including for example within M&A or structured finance, or taking your career in a different direction in the wider Shell Group, for example into business finance e.g. in our New Energies business or trading.
What we need from you?
We are keen to hear from corporate finance professional who can engage with concepts and stakeholders, weigh the options and apply their judgement to make sound decisions. Beyond That, We’d Hope to see as many of the following as possible on your CV:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. While professional qualifications (e.g. CFA, ACA, ACCA, ACMA/CIMA/CGMA) are not required for this role, it will certainly be an advantage to your application.
Proven experience in a financial institution. Experience in either M&A, Equity Capital Markets, Debt Capital Markets is highly desirable for this role but not required.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong expertise in the MS Excel application and financial modelling.
Keen interest in finance, corporate finance concepts and the application of finance to improve business results
Proven experience in financial reporting and financial forecasting is highly desirable although not essential.
A proactive self-starter attitude. Ability to form networks in a complex organization and step up to manage stakeholders at senior level of the company whilst also able to get into details and conduct hands-on analytical work.
Strong interpersonal skills, comfortable dealing with stakeholders at all levels of the Group, building trust and credibility.
We are keen to hear from individuals who can bring a positive, proactive approach to managing and solving problems. A natural collaborator and confident communicator, someone who can enjoy cultivating fruitful working relationships and influence others to make change happen.
