Job Description:
The Portfolio Development Manager within Shell Tech Works is responsible for the development and growth of a diversified project pipeline within a specific portfolio or line of business, as well as fostering and developing strong relationships within Shell and the Boston-area tech ecosystem to support Shell Tech Works portfolio development strategies. Under the guidance of the Portfolio Development Manager Lead and the direction of the General Manager and in partnership with Engineering, the Portfolio Development Manager is responsible for strategic customer relationship management, identification and vetting of potential project opportunities based on business pull within Shell, creation of compelling proposals and project plans and guidance of strategic direction.
Grow Shell Tech Works current project portfolio through relentless pursuit of high value-added project opportunities within Shell that align with Shell Tech Works core capabilities and strategic direction
Establish professional relationships with business, technical and other leaders within Shell to foster Shell Tech Works mission as an innovative technology development and delivery engine, capable of addressing the most pressing technical challenges.
Identify commercial paths to market for proposed technology solutions by:
Understanding technology application use cases
Working both independently and with other organizations inside and outside Shell to understand the competitive landscape (vendors, potential partners, market factors, etc.)
Driving or supporting commercial discussions with third parties with the goal of producing a commercial strategy that maximizes value to Shell businesses
• Manage an effective and collaborative proposal development process, from initial framing/conception through final submission
• Create project plans from scoping and initiation to technology commercialization, working directly with Systems and Products teams to establish program scope, stakeholder maps, requirements, milestones and key deliverables
• Manage and balance new project requirements with existing project portfolio, strategically assessing new project capture opportunities as best-fit to current portfolio and other potential project capture efforts
• Track and report Shell Tech Works revenue stream, including probability of capture and realistic assessment of opportunity size and level of effort.
• Assist the project teams in developing follow-on activities and executing portfolio development strategy
• Ensure a healthy, safe, secure and environmentally conscious work environment is maintained at all times and by all staff, in compliance with corporate policies and federal and state regulations

Requirements:
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Degree in engineering or equivalent a minimum, Master's degree in engineering is preferred
8 years' experience of scoping and securing complex technical projects worth more than $1 million
Proven track record in building strategic relationships with senior-level decision-makers within large, complex international organizations
Extensive experience writing and managing project proposals, business specifications, technical specifications, project plans, and other project documentation
Thorough understanding and experience in the application of project management concepts, especially Scrum and Agile methodologies and techniques along with the skills to establish priorities and define, plan and execute the activities necessary to reach project objectives
Highly organized and able to use Microsoft Project or equivalent, Microsoft office products
Willingness to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally on an as-needed basis
Exceptional communication skills.
