We are looking for an experienced, self-starting financial professional to lead our accounting team, manage the day-to-day work of the department and provide sound, forward-thinking analysis and guidance of the financial health of the firm. Under the general direction of the Chief Operating Officer (COO), CHDB’s new Controller will be responsible for operational management of the accounting department, and providing financial reporting and analysis for senior management and equity owners.   
Job Responsibilities
OPERATIONAL
Prepare and maintain annual operations budget and forecasts.
Ensure appropriate law firm internal controls are implemented and reviewed periodically to adhere to modified cash accounting standards for law firms.
Manage cash flow, including management of billing, A/R, A/P, line of credit, payroll, trust account.
Working with firm’s outside accountants, timely prepare firm monthly, quarterly and annual tax reports, including payroll tax (specifically for equity partners) and K-1 partnership returns.
Managing banking relationships, including relationships with line of credit financial institutions.
Protect firm assets through monitoring of various transaction types for potential fraud, abuse or risk payments.
Supervise all accounting staff.  Assess needs of department and make recommendations to COO accordingly.
Provide leadership to the department, manage expectations placed upon Department, and promote the position reputation of the Accounting Department.  
Attend all regularly scheduled and all ad hoc meetings related to the finances/accounting for the firm.
REPORTING & ANALYSIS
Develop monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting, including profit/loss statement and other reports candidate feels are useful for management’s decision-making
Develop, maintain and provide forecasting analysis for cash flow and predict financial results or the financial impact of management decisions.
Provide detailed reporting as requested from COO and Equity Partners, including profitability analysis by attorney, practice group and firm wide. Work with COO and Finance Committee to implement strategic vision related to the firm’s finances.
Evaluate opportunities to create budgetary standards for other aspects of firm management, including office, capital, cost center, practice group and legal case budgets.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
5-10 years’ accounting experience in a law firm or professional services environment (law firm strongly preferred) 
5-10 years’ experience in financial and managerial reporting and analysis in a professional service environment, preferably in a law firm setting
3-5 years’ experience supervising team of at least five direct reports
Experience working with partnership tax structure
Strong experience working in a modified cash basis accounting environment
Experience working with SurePoint LMSV and LMS accounting software preferred
Advanced Excel skills
CPA/MBA desired but not required
