**Position can be based onsite in Minneapolis MN or Mansfield MA.**
The Tax Process Improvement Manager will work closely within the Medtronic Tax Department to drive the transformation of tax processes through leveraging automation, data analytics, and continuous improvement. The role works cross-functionally throughout the Tax function to assess tax needs, prioritize continuous improvement initiatives, propose, and develop solutions, and train end users to improve team productivity and effectiveness. This role partners across the Company and externally with peer groups and advisors to identify, evaluate and drive implementation of automation within the Tax function. The Tax Process Improvement Manager will work with all groups in the Medtronic Tax Department.
The Tax Process Improvement Manager will report to Sr. Manager, Federal Compliance, and work as part of the Continuous Improvement Council and improve processes and tax technologies responsible for supporting continuous improvement and making work easier for the entire tax department.

**A Day in the Life**
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Work with and be a contributing member to the Medtronic Tax Departments Tax Transformation/Continuous Improvement Council to design and implement strategies in the areas of process optimization, tax data hub and tax technology, and such other needs identified by the tax leadership team;
Partner with various tax functional groups and stakeholders to understand their process lifecycle, data, and requirements in order to drive process improvements and efficiencies;
Set standards/best practices and train/support end users on current tax technologies and how these technologies are used to reduce time spent on work, reduce errors, automate tax processes, extract strategic data analytics, and provide visualization tools for management reporting or strategic decisions. For example, in the area of extract, transform, load (ETL) tools and current tax enabling technologies; e.g., OneSource, CorpTax, Vertex, PowerBI, Alteryx, AI, etc.;
Manage process improvement projects with cross-functional teams to improve tax processes, applications, analytics, and reporting capabilities;
Collaborate with internal and external partners to stay current on tax technical and tax technology developments and effectively apply such knowledge for improvement within the Medtronic Tax and Finance groups
**Must Have: Minimum Requirements**
Bachelor's degree with 5 years in U.S. Corporate Income Tax (3 years with Advanced degree) including 3 years utilizing tax technologies and ETL tools such as CorpTax, OneSource, MS Power Automate/Power Apps, Alteryx, Tableau, PowerBI, and/or AI technologies.
**Nice to Have**
Experience in indirect taxes such as Sales/Use/VAT
Experience in working with tax related solutions in ERP systems (preferably SAP).
Experience designing and implementing tax process improvements.
Bachelors Degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
Experience with a Big 4 firm or multinational corporations with tax technical experience preferred.
Certification, such as CPA, Enrolled Agent, or attorney licensed by the Bar in at least one state.
Advanced degree in taxation or software technologies.
Track record of demonstrating strong commitment and experience in developing yourself, your colleagues, and your business partners.
Strong project management skills.
Ability to apply good judgment, financial acumen, and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve critical tax risks; demonstrates high ethical standards.
Excellent communication skills; ability to effectively communicate complex technical tax issues in both tax and easy to understand non-tax language with other Tax Department members, advisors, and non-tax leaders in the company.
Progressive forward-thinking mind-set; creative and innovative thinker that is always looking for improvement opportunities.
Able to work independently as well as part of a progressive, high-performing team exercising influence management skills to contribute to value added deliverables.
Working experience in the MedTech industry.
Comfortable working in a matrix reporting environment.
Deep experience in one of more tax functional areas (e.g., income tax or indirect/sales tax compliance, reporting and payments, tax accounting, tax audits, transfer pricing, tax planning, etc.), a deep understanding of tax language, concepts, and processes; experience designing and creating data management, analytics and extraction, tax visualization dashboards from tax processes, and an ability to work and extract data for strategic value.
