Job Description
Blackboard is seeking a Senior Financials Systems Specialist, on permanent basis, to participate in the system planning, analysis, design, development and support of the Blackboard’s PeopleSoft Financials and Supply Chain applications. This position will be reporting directly to the Senior Functional Manager of Enterprise Business Solutions.
The primary responsibilities for this role will be to:
Work with management, corporate finance business users, and IT to provide production support, enhancements and upgrades to existing PeopleSoft Finance systems, and to assist in any new PeopleSoft module implementations. This position will be direct point of contact for Bb Transact group and will lead projects involving PeopleSoft Supply Chain applications.
Systems and Procedures:
Primary Support PeopleSoft Supply Chain modules (Inventory, Manufacturing, Order Management, Supply Planning and Engineering)
Secondary support for PeopleSoft Expenses module
Support system Integration points with Outsourced Manufacturing partners
Develop and maintain Integration documentation repository across all PeopleSoft Supply-chain modules
Use knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials to maximize features and functionality
Develop detailed functional specifications using knowledge of PeopleSoft data model
Make recommendations to improve, streamline and automate specific PeopleSoft Financial areas
Configure/develop PeopleSoft Financial objects
Document the design and business process development so that it may be interpreted, maintained and enhanced in the future
Work with end users to help resolve production support issues and current design issues
Responsible for issue and problem monitoring. This includes documenting issues and problems, coordinating the resolution process, and documenting the resolution.
Prepare test plans and assist in the system test and quality assurance process for vendor patches and system upgrades
Manage user expectations by providing feedback on alternatives and current status.
Develop reports/queries to support financial reporting needs
Coordinate module patches, bundles and upgrades, including testing, documentation and implementation
Project planning and management:
Assist/create project charters and project plans
Assist/perform cost/benefit analysis of projects
Coordinate and complete project tasks according to project plans
Guide project team members
Evaluate success of enhancement, upgrade, or implementation and determine follow up if necessary
Others:
Provide end-user systems training as needed
Maintain good working relationships with project team members, internal customers (e.g. Corporate Finance), and external service vendors
Participate in internal customer meetings to better understand requirements and challenges
Perform other duties as requested by project managers and/or managers
Professional Qualifications: Required:
This position requires a BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
3 years of Functional/Technical experience in PeopleSoft Supply Chain modules version 8.8, or higher
Hands-on SQL experience using technologies such as Oracle DB and MS-SQL
Must have implementation and development skills plus experience with the application implementation life cycle, including: requirement analysis, fit/gap analysis, application configuration, functional/technical specifications, integration, product enhancement and support
Strong understanding of finance and accounting; must be able to assist in the monthly financial closing process
Experience in PeopleSoft CRM and Peoplesoft Expenses applications would be a plus
An overall understanding of the technical components of the PeopleSoft architecture
Multi-tasking and work prioritization is a must for this candidate
Working experience in project management, business analysis, and solution deployment.
Requires excellent communication and presentation skills and candidates must have the ability to communicate with internal/external customers, vendors, upper management, etc. in both formal and informal situations
A high degree of creative ability, analytical and technical skills and independent judgment
Ability to handle high levels of responsibility, self-directed, with strong organizational and project management skills
Able to work well in a matrix / cross functional environment
Ability to work under stress with time-critical deadlines and expectations.
