In Germany we employ 3,500 colleagues who work together along the value chain from research and development to manufacturing and distribution of all our products incl. petrochemicals, fuels and lubricants, gas and power as well as an expanding new energies business.

What’s the role?

The xBT program is an opportunity for individuals that are interested in becoming future leaders within Shell. The program lasts for four years and offers the opportunity to learn and perform in two different established roles within Finance, Retail, Trading&Supply, Manufacturing or the B2B Businesses such as Lubricants, Aviation, Bitumen or Chemicals. New energies is an increasingly important part of our Business and during your program you will have the chance to be part of our journey to the energy transition.

Next to this training on the job, the program includes dedicated time at the front line to enable you to become familiar with the complete value chain from crude oil at the refinery into the customers tank or engine. This will include practical short-term assignments e.g. at a Shell Gas Station, the visit of a refinery or a fuels depot and the work shadowing with our sales teams during customer visits.

Your first two-year assignment at the xBT program will be as a Finance analyst where you will be accountable for overseeing and reconciliating the cashflow of all the legal entities under Shell in Germany. This entry-level development position enables you to form the basis for your further career at Shell as you will be collaborating closely with senior leaders across the organisation as well as external authorities.

You will be part of a team of trusted and supportive colleagues who will enable you to achieve your goals. Requirements:

What we need from you?

We’re keen to hear from individuals who have master’s degree preferably in Finance or any related degree. Beyond that, we’d want to hear from individuals who has the following:


Fluency in German and English.
Excellent communication & analytical skills.
Resilient and proven ability to plan your activities and work with conflicting deadlines.
A team player attitude.
