The Associate Portfolio Manager will be responsible for supporting all facets of loan origination/closing, ongoing loan servicing, and growth efforts of the AgFirst Capital Markets loan portfolio. The Associate Portfolio Manager will work directly with a team of Capital Markets Loan officers and across multiple departments within the bank including Credit Administration/Underwriting, Legal, Participation Operations and Senior/Executive Management.
Direct client and contact with AgFirst member Associations will also be an integral part of the job. The position will serve as a member of the AgFirst Loan Committee, approve credit actions under Delegated Authority and execute loan documents as an Officer of the Bank.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Actively work with AgFirst's member Associations and external partners (other commercial banks) to manage participations portfolio
- Work with the credit department to assist with the loan underwriting
- Manage on-going credit actions for portfolio of loan participations
- Work in collaboration with member Associations, credit department, borrowers, attorneys, and loan servicing
- Mentor to other team members
- Assist the Head of Capital Markets and management with special projects or other duties, as requested
Requirements:
- Minimum of 4-year college degree with emphasis in finance/business/accounting or agriculture. Completion of a master's degree in finance (MBA), preferred
- Minimum of 4 years of commercial lending experience with middle market companies, with experience with multi-lender transactions. Strong origination, structuring and credit underwriting experience
- Extensive experience in credit role including as a credit underwriter/analyst for commercial loans to small to large size companies
- Extensive experience with on-going management administration of a portfolio of participation loans. This includes credit underwriting of amendments, waivers, refinancing, etc.
- Knowledge about the loan syndications market
- Understands trends impacting the loan syndication business
- Sector experience in Agriculture preferred
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to effectively work across an organization with various stake holders (e.g. District and System entities, credit, legal, and compliance among others)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Capable of working independently and with little supervision
- Effective group presentation, leadership and coaching skills
- Understands GAAP accounting and cash flow analysis
- Ability to travel
