We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Finance and Accounting professional to join our team as Finance Manager. This position will be based in our Austin, Texas office and will lead all aspects of the firm's accounting operations. The position reports to the Managing Shareholder.
This role will lead the following functional areas: Billing, AR/collections, Banking Relationships, Escrow and Trust Account Administration, General Accounting, Firm Business Insurance Renewals, and Review of Vendor Contracts for the Firm.
The Finance Manager will be responsible for:
Directing activities of Finance Department staff and ensuring that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner, accounts receivable are collected promptly, and billing invoices are prepared and sent timely while providing leadership, mentoring, and training within the department.
Working with the Personnel Department in the payroll process.
Managing the firm's trust account activities.
Implementing and maintaining required internal financial and operational controls.
Overseeing the firm's compliance reviews and independent auditing of benefit plans.
Preparing monthly financial reports with a strong ability to interpret the results to the Managing Shareholder and other shareholders upon request.
Overseeing the preparation of the annual budget for individual offices and the firm.
Preparing financial forecasts and comparisons to budget.
Overseeing/preparing monthly/quarterly reconciliations (balance sheet and profit and loss).
Developing and implementing monthly closing procedures.
Preparing/reviewing monthly journal entries.
Working with outside CPA for tax returns and tax planning.
Optimizing the handling of firm banking and financial institution relationships.
Ensuring the Firm’s Business Insurance Packages (including General Liability, Worker’s Compensation, Cyber Security, Professional Liability, and Employment Practices) are maintained in an appropriate fashion by working with outside brokers to review and renew each year.
Reviewing and approving vendor contracts for the Firm.
The successful candidate will have the following:
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field required; CPA (active license) and/or MBA highly preferred.
Experience in professional services accounting operations or legal industry required. Requires a minimum of 8 years of accounting operations management experience, including 2 years of senior-level management experience.
Hands-on experience optimizing the use of financial, accounting, and associated reporting systems. Experience with Orion preferred.
High level of leadership, interpersonal, and collaboration skills. Strong team player.
