General Responsibilities:
The Real Estate Development Manager will contribute to the company's success by providing strategic planning, project management, and financial oversight in new build development projects while maintaining the highest standards of excellence. This position will also be accountable for developing and fostering effective relationships internally and externally including consultants, public funders and private lenders/equity providers, community organizations, architects, construction managers, government liaisons, etc.
Key Functions:
Manage multiple complex development projects in various stages, ranging from preliminary entitlement through final permitting and horizontal construction
Identify and evaluate potential solutions to complex real estate development issues such as public land use policy, transportation planning, utilities and infrastructure, concurrency, impact identification and mitigation, etc.
Oversee selection, management and contracting of outside consultants to ensure timely, cost effective and best practice service.
Build and maintain successful relationships and communications with other Weyerhaeuser business units (Timberlands, Real Estate, Legal, Finance, etc.)
Establish close working relationships within local community leaders and city/county/state approval agencies
Manage project scheduling, budgeting and reporting
Provide financial reviews and updates, and accounting forecasts for development projects
Conduct feasibility analyses, analyzing potential projects from the perspectives of mission-fit, financial feasibility and risk
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or Engineering
At least 3 years experience with large scale real estate projects including the entitlement and initial execution
Knowledgeable in all facets of the development process, including permitting, contractor selection and construction implementation, establishing project budgets, and financial analysis
Strong verbal & written communication, with the ability to take complex concepts and communicate accurately and persuasively
Proficient in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
