SUMMARY:
This position provides critical financial support to the Innovation organization and related Retail Packaged Business Units (BU’s). This includes partnering with the Innovation team along with the BU s and other cross-functional departments on evaluating break-out and disruptive product launches throughout the innovation governance process, as well as reporting innovation metrics.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Partner with Innovation teams for break-out and disruptive product launches to provide financial guidance especially during the latter stages of the governance process, specifically, the feasibility, development, and launch prep stages. Assist with the creation and maintenance of profit and loss PL statements including verification and validation of inputs assumptions. Oversee the reporting of key metrics for innovation performance scorecards, Quarterly Business Reviews, and Board of Director review. Facilitate the innovation strategic plan roll-up. Assist with the development of the Capital Investment Requests CIR s for long-term innovation projects if applicable including project payback and related financial metrics. Engage with Corporate and BU Finance teams to ensure technical accounting issues specific to strategic projects are properly addressed. Attend project governance meetings to offer finance perspective on individual projects. Create ad-hoc reports analysis and presentations as requested or as needed. Participate in post-launch reviews.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.
Experience: 5 plus years of experience in Finance preferably in Retail Packaged or Prepared; experience with marketing or innovation function is a plus, 1 plus year supervisory experience and MBA/CPA preferred.
Special Skills: Advanced knowledge and understanding of financial statements and accounting concepts. Thorough understanding of innovation governance process and overall BU and sales channel hierarchy. In-depth knowledge of PLs and capital investment requests CIRs. Strong analytical spreadsheet and communication skills required. Experience with SAP, AFE, and NPD preferred. Detail oriented with ability to work independently and cross-functionally.
Travel: 1 to 5 domestic trips per year.
