Publix Employees Federal Credit Union (PEFCU) seeks a visionary and strategic leader to serve as its next chief financial officer (CFO). The CFO must be a CPA and can communicate complex information and effectively present it to the board and other credit union executives.
The CFO focuses on the current and future financial markets serving the credit union's different demographic areas. This position supports the credit union through data analytics, metrics, forecasting, risk management, ALCO, and overall strategy to meet the organization's future and current needs. The CFO is accountable for maximizing and understanding assets, liabilities, investments, profits, and human capital.
The CFO works closely with the executive team and board to understand relationships with members to return a profit by focusing on efficiency, streamlining processes, providing attractive member services, and broadening the membership base. The CFO needs to strategically and continually look for opportunities to generate competitive revenue streams to be a more profitable entity while building capital. An entrepreneurial mindset about revenue is required.
As the CFO, you will work closely with auditors, examiners, and brokers, following regulations and guidelines to ensure the credit union's soundness. You are an expert in GAAP accounting, cooperative principles, investments, budgeting, and asset/liability management. Additionally, you have experience in facilities management, purchasing, and employee development. The CFO must understand the overall credit union operations, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be passionate about ongoing learning and development to keep abreast of current and future trends.
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree, and top candidates will have a master's degree. Candidates must have at least ten years of experience in accounting, finance, and economics with increasing responsibilities and accountabilities; they must also have at least five years of strategic leadership experience as CFO or Controller, preferably at a credit union. Top candidates will come from the financial industry (credit unions, banks, brokerage, investments, financial planner, auditor, or examiner).
