Represents the Association internally and externally. Leads and coaches teams to achieve regional and association objectives, including quality sales and customer service, while maintaining the appropriate financial and risk profile balance. The CLO, in cooperation with other members of the Executive Committee, develops direction and strategies to fulfill our purpose and provide leadership and strategies to achieve the objectives and goals of the association. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Leadership Provides strategic leadership and direction to the Associationu2019s lending policies, procedures and standards that results in providing quality service. Selects, coaches, and develops team members in effective and efficient review of credit analysis, regulatory compliance and procedural compliance. Exercises management authority in performance reviews, pay decisions, recruitment, discipline, and other employment decisions. Models the Farm Credit Mid-America values and guiding principles known as Our Compass, and complies with its policies and confidentiality expectations. Leads by challenging the process, inspiring a shared vision, enabling others to act, modeling the way, and encouraging the heart. Strategy and Planning Provides strategic leadership for the Associationu2019s business plan relative to Food and Agribusiness, Crop Insurance, Growing Forward and Farm Credit System Partnerships related to Ag Lending functions by delivering desired results measured by sales numbers, credit quality, credit administration, effective and efficient servicing and financial results, and appropriate annual operating budget management. Participates on the Executive Committee and Leadership Team and works with the Board of Directors to set vision, strategy, and Association priorities using 5-10 year outlook for the marketplace and succession needs to promote the long-term success of the Association. Operational Leadership Plans and implements the Associationu2019s Lending programs in Diversified Markets, including assists in its development and refinement, communicating the benefits, goals and objectives to all staff, the board of directors, and with system and non-system lending partners. Creates and executes long-term and short-term strategy for marketplaces. This includes workflow, structure, products, and marketplace positioning. Provides leadership to the overall sales philosophy and culture for the association. Looks beyond existing methodologies and own discipline to define and resolve complex problems Makes decisions guided by association purpose, strategies and priorities Monitors industry trends/data, adherence to processes and policies, monitoring internal results to modify direction in support of the Business Plan and our customers. Creates and enforces standards, procedures, and internal controls that maintain a competitive advantage, align with business expectations, and mitigate risk, including credit quality assurance and management. Networks and maintains a positive working relationship with other Association leaders, the Board of Directors, the Farm Credit Banks, Regulator leadership, and/or political organizations to represent the needs of Association customers Serves as Executive Sponsors of assigned work teams. Creates and maintains retail lending relationships with Farm Credit System and non-System partners. Creates an environment that encourages collaboration and formal partnerships where it furthers the associationu2019s strategies. Additional responsibilities as assigned. MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This job requires the incumbent to have the ability to: Engage in telephone and face-to-face conversation to serve customers and give and receive information from staff, vendors, outside consultants and the public. Use a computer and similar office technology and tools. This involves reading the screen and keying/typing information. Speak and make presentations to individuals or groups on technical subjects related to job. Travel via auto or commercial transportation to carry out essential responsibilities of the job. Successfully interact with and represent the organization to staff, officers, board members, customers, vendors, and/or the public at all levels. Provide sound technical advice to leaders and other staff in the subject field(s) related to this position. Understand and explain various subject matter and consulting concepts, programs, terminology, and methods. Reason, judge, compare, calculate, evaluate, decide, and critique such information as written material, numerical data, responses to customer needs, and/or other related work activities.
