Position Summary
The VP-Mortgage Operations is responsible for strategic planning, executive leadership and directing the activities of the Loan Processing, Underwriting, Closing/Funding, and Disclosures departments. The VP-Mortgage Operations reports to the SVP Retail Operations and works closely with the executive management team. The incumbent must develop strong relationships with key stakeholders, peers, and business unit leaders.
Primary Responsibilities
Manages the activities and operations of Loan Processing, Underwriting, Closing/Funding, and Disclosures.
Responsible for coaching, mentoring, influencing and developing team members.
Develop policies and procedures to ensure each department’s compliance with state and federal mortgage regulations.
Creates measurement and reporting of the key metrics which need to be optimized to shorten the mortgage life cycle.
Enable and support the Retail Support teams in achieving key objectives and overcoming challenges.
Cooperates with production leadership to implement practices that allow for smooth workflow and positive customer experience.
Possess a positive high energy level, sense of urgency, creativity and decisiveness
Facilitates improvements to current systems and practices.
Manages internal and external audit requests for each department under the operations umbrella to ensure appropriate turnaround.
Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, organization maturity and ability to develop a network of trusted relationships with peers and other business partners.
Qualifications
Required:
7 years’ experience in mortgage operations with an emphasis on originations
5 years management experience
Proven ability to motivate and mentor employees
Exemplary communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to create synergies across teams, processes and people
Demonstrated ability to lead multifunctional operations
Demonstrated ability to manage all levels of an operation
Desired:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or other related area
