ABOUT THE LIFE IS GOOD PLAYMAKER PROJECT
1 in 3 kids experience early childhood trauma threats like homelessness, abuse, or community violence. Experiences with childhood trauma can impact a childs long-term physical, social and emotional health. Research shows that a positive relationship with just one caring adult in early childhood can change a child's life entirely.
The Life is Good Playmaker Project teaches early childhood educators to help kids heal from trauma. We have a growing network of more than 16,000 professionals who create the positive relationships and joy-filled environments that children need to heal, learn, and thrive. We call them Playmakers.
This work is needed now, more than ever and were on a mission to double the size of our Playmaker community.
YOUR OBJECTIVE
The Director of Finance & Administration will lead the Playmaker Projects financial, human resources, and administrative functions. The successful candidate will operate as both a hands-on, functional expert and a strategist, ensuring a strong infrastructure that can support the organization as it scales. The Director of Finance and Administration will work to optimize current systems and processes and leverage technology to build efficiency.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Finance and Administration will be an integral member of the Playmaker Projects leadership team. The Director of Finance and Administration will work in close partnership with and supervise the organizations part-time Business Manager.

This role is based in Boston. Our team is in office 1-2 days/week

YOUR JOB
Responsibilities
Financial Management
Oversee all financial accounting in partnership with Business Manager
Analyze & present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner and communicate monthly and annual financial statements
Oversee payroll processing and administration in partnership with Business Manager
Coordinate and lead the annual audit process
Ensure business policies and internal controls are clearly defined, communicated to staff and adhered to
Act as liaison to the Board of Directors Finance Committee
Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting
Lead the annual budgeting and planning process in collaboration with Executive Director
Human Resources
Lead all aspects of Human Resources functions including hiring, onboarding, compensation and benefits, staff development and training
Manage recruitment processes to attract high quality candidates and onboarding processes to ensure new employees are set up for success
Collaborate with Executive Director to conduct compensation analyses and ensure a high quality benefits package; oversee annual open enrollment and all benefits administration.
Contribute to a culture of trust and inclusivity
Administrative Operations
Review organizational contracts with an eye toward risk management
Manage all compliance functions, including annual corporate filings
Manage technology assets and licenses
Requirements
Your Experience and Qualifications:
At least 7-10 years of professional experience, with 5-plus years of broad financial, HR and operational experience
Familiarity with nonprofit accounting procedures and experience in managing finances for an organization of a similar size ($2.5M)
Experience operating as HR generalist
A track record of managing and making recommendations to improve upon organizational systems and processes
Meticulous attention to detail
High degree of emotional intelligence, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to garner the trust of a team
Ability to exercise excellent judgment in decision-making and demonstrate trustworthiness in dealing with confidential matters
