GENERAL SUMMARY: The Payroll Analyst is responsible for assisting with bi-weekly payroll processing for a large volume of associates in a multi-state environment.  In addition, this role will be responsible for performing tasks related to overall Federal, State, and Local compliance.  This role will play a critical part in payroll tax and accounting and will be responsible for creating extensive audits as well as managing reporting tools.  This is a collaborative role that will partner closely with all members of the Payroll team.       

 

REPORTS TO Manager, Payroll 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Perform key payroll processes accurately and efficiently, including but not limited to, one-time/retroactive payments, garnishments, tax adjustments, etc.  *Perform verification and reconciliation tasks and investigate audit discrepancies *Complete tax set up with multiple US jurisdictions *Provide payroll compliance, tax and accounting support *Respond to pay related inquiries with associates, internal business partners, vendors, and outside agencies *Identify and assist in implementation of appropriate business process efficiencies to improve payroll operations *Support quarterly tax filing processes *Oversee year-end payroll process management *Responsible for data collection and evidence for internal and external audit requests (SOX compliance) *Assist with auditing and recording equity transactions, personal mileage, relocation, third party sick pay *Support global and domestic tax mobility process development and ongoing administration *Design/build complex reports using ADP reporting tools and via Excel *Manage employment and wage verification request and unemployment claims process *Perform other job-related duties as assigned
 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

*Demonstrated ability to think critically and recommend solutions *Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills *Strong foundational knowledge of applicable regulations relating to multi-state payroll processing and ability to research/interpret laws & regulations related to payroll *Knowledge of current payroll methodologies, best practices and processes *Understanding of payroll tax withholding, voluntary deductions and garnishments *Deep payroll accounting knowledge including general ledger management *Strong MS Office skills including high proficiency in Excel (required) and Access (preferred) *Ability to work in a team, as well as independently, in a time sensitive environment *Ability to work with highly sensitive information and maintain strict confidentiality *Demonstrated ability to thrive in a highly quantitative, fast-paced environment with changing business needs *High degree of initiative, personal responsibility, and ownership *Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting critical deadlines *Experience with Payroll reporting or use of query tools *Excellent written and verbal communication skills key to remote team collaboration
 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE:

*3 years of experience with Multi State Payroll Processing, Compliance, and Tax, as well as experience with Payroll Accounting including but not limited to General Ledger administration and related functions *Multi State background *ADP Enterprise or equivalent payroll processing software experience
 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

*Experience in the retail industry *Experience using Access
 

EDUCATION:

*B.S. Degree in HR, Finance, Business Administration or related field or equivalent work experience preferred
