Job Description:

General Summary:

The Financial Business Systems Analyst (FBSA) works within a cross-functional team to analyze business processes and systems in the Finance & HR space, designing and implementing automated solutions to support Finance's and HR's critical functions. The FBSA loves data and has a passion for transforming data into usable information. The FBSA also administrates and supports enterprise software systems including training, documentation, configuration, and system upgrades.

Job duties include:

Business Systems Analysis

Build and maintain positive, constructive partnering relationships with business units and have a deep understanding of their work environment, strategic goals and data systems. Maintain expertise in SPU's Finance and HR enterprise software portfolio. Assess business needs, provide technical recommendations that augment and enhance productivity, efficiency and effectiveness and implement them. Assist Finance and HR with the transition of resources, individuals and business processes impacted by projects. Translate recommendations into functional and technical requirements, utilizing industry standard documentation tools and practices for business analysis.

Enterprise Software Systems

Provide technical assistance, support, triage, research and troubleshooting for enterprise technology systems in conjunction with the Computer Information Systems team. Manage the data integrity of the Finance and HR applications and support the best use of financial data through data queries and maintaining integrity of Finance & HR databases. Assist with design, development and coding of Finance and HR enterprise technology solutions and custom systems. Administrate Finance and HR enterprise technology systems, supervise system upgrades and communicate technology changes to campus stakeholders.

Project Management

Lead the planning, review, and execution of smaller Finance/HR technology projects. Take ownership of project meetings, schedules, milestones, dependencies, risk assessment, requirements gathering, etc. while working with cross-functional teams, and proactively identifying and resolving roadblocks. Lead project teams in setting schedules and expectations while balancing technical requirements, stakeholder needs and project constraints. Ensure open communication across project teams. Assist AVP Finance/Controller with duties above on larger projects.

Documentation, Policies and Procedures

Create and manage documentation, policy and appropriate procedures necessary to: enforce standards, communicate best practices, define roles and responsibilities, and sustain ongoing IT operations. Define and promote effective documentation best practices internally and externally. Facilitate training for new systems implementations.

Software and System Security

Enforce policies and security measures to safeguard organizational information against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure, control data system access permissions and privileges. Maintain working knowledge of current security issues, laws and policies related to data and enterprise systems. Conduct financial system related IT controls such as user access reviews and SOC2 evaluations. Manage hardware and software for the Finance and HR offices including maintaining inventory listings and coordinating installation of new equipment and tools.

Continuous Improvement

Stay current with business systems analysis and project management industry best practices, tools, technologies and methodologies. Incorporates new knowledge and ideas into corporate strategy, policy and standards.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, or demonstration of equivalent skillset.

Ability to conduct business analysis, process re-engineering, and successful implementation with users.

Demonstrated ability to manage technical and non-technical projects including schedules, deliverables, stakeholder and change management.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills including: facilitation, leading meetings/discussions, giving group presentations, and problem resolution/mediation.

Strong written/technical writing skills for developing comprehensive specifications, documentation and training for business and software functionality.

Familiarity with Finance and HR enterprise data systems and their operation.

Demonstrated problem solving, troubleshooting, critical thinking, and organizational skills.

Strong initiative, internal drive to meet customer needs, ability to self-manage and achieve results despite ambiguity. Curiosity is key to success in this role.

Preferred qualifications:

Strong understanding of relational databases and/or demonstrated ability to author SQL queries.

Demonstrated ability to write, parse, or debug code using general programming knowledge.

Experience in a Higher Education environment.

Experience with Banner (Elucian).

Advanced user of Microsoft Office 365 tools (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, etc.), or similar.

Proficient with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Stash, etc.), or similar.

Experience with reporting and business intelligence software (e.g.: Argos, Tableau, etc.).

CBAP, PMP, MIS, or related Master's degree.

Additional Information:

Position will remain open until filled.

Salary: $70,000 - $85,000 DOE

This is a full time position with excellent benefits. SPU pays the employee premium for medical, dental, and vision insurance. SPU makes contributions to an employee HSA account and to a retirement account after one year of eligibility in the plan. Tuition discount program available for the employee and qualified immediate family members.
