Job Description:

General Summary:

Do you enjoy working with finances and helping people achieve their educational goals? This position works with students and families to explain their account balances and financial aid awards. A key-player in our 18-person office, the SFS Coordinator role encompasses a balance of assisting students and their families, while also working with student account processes and having a deep knowledge of all things related to student accounts, student employment, and financial aid. You are the face of our office and make a daily difference in how students experience the intricacies of paying for college.

Job Duties:

Ensures compliance by understanding, applying, and effectively communicating to students and parents federal, state, and institutional regulations that govern financial aid.

Manages and becomes the expert and contact for processes related to student accounts and financial aid.

Provides compassionate guidance and support to students and families as they navigate paying for college. This could include the financial aid process, and other questions surrounding the financial aspects of going to school.

Processes transactions with high attention to detail and accuracy in a timely manner.

Engages in proactive communication with past due students for delinquent accounts, administering and monitoring payment plans.

Creates a welcoming, inclusive and equitable environment while working with people from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Treats each person as a unique individual, honoring of wherever they come from.

Requirements:

Associates Degree or equivalent experience required. Bachelor's degree preferred.

Understanding and interest in customer service.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work within structure and deadlines.

Demonstrated computer skills, including Microsoft Office software.

Team oriented.

Ability to multi-task.

Additional Information:

Position will remain open until filled.

Currently a partial hybrid remote schedule is available, employee must reside in WA state.

The department is hiring for two positions and is eager to welcome and train up their next Student Financial Services Coordinators.

Salary: $43,000 - $45,500 DOE

This is a full time position with excellent benefits. SPU pays the employee premium for medical, dental, and vision insurance. SPU makes contributions to an employee HSA account and to a retirement account after one year of eligibility in the plan. Tuition discount program available for the employee and qualified immediate family members.
