Job Description:

The Finance Assistant - Student A/R is responsible to the Accounts Receivable Manager under the broad supervision of the Assistant Controller and the Controller & Executive Director of Finance.

Serves to provide fiscal support to the Controller & Executive Director of Finance responsible for tasks vital to the financial operation of the College. Position requires interactions with the general College community. Tasks require careful attention to details, experience in operational duties within a fiscal department, effective written and verbal communication skills and mature judgment. Responsible for communicating with students, parents and third parties regarding student account transactions.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Provide a high level of customer service to students. Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the services provided by the Finance Office and other College departments in order to respond to inquiries appropriately and accurately.

Regular Assignments:

Responsible for the detail processing of student accounts receivable transactions

Post all forms of payments to student accounts.

Post charges and adjustments student accounts (childcare, deposits clay vouchers, misapplied payments, etc).

Prepare Banner daily cashier sessions for review.

Processes daily check deposit via remote deposit to TD bank

Prepares deposit slip for cash payments processed

Provide support to the Accounts Receivable Manager

Placement or removal of A/R holds.

Assist with billing and collection efforts.

Assist with the removal process.

Assist with maintenance on student accounts.

Other duties

Responds to student queries in the Bursar Voice Mail Box and Bursar email Account on a timely basis.

Assists students with completion of internal payment plan document for past due semester balance/Summer semester internal payment plan.

Prepares daily reconciliation of online student account payments to the Banner Nelnet cashiering session.

Performs related duties as assigned by the Accounts Receivable Manager.

Special projects will be assigned as necessary.

Position requires mandatory overtime during peak periods.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma and minimum of one-year experience as a bank teller or in accounts receivable/cashiering in addition to skills in fiscal operations.

Fundamental understanding of the use of microcomputers in financial recordkeeping.

Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel software.

Candidate must exhibit careful attention to detail and display mature judgment.

Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing with a diverse student population, college employees, and the community in general.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate's Degree.

Experience in a client server environment (BANNER) in higher education.

Two years of experience successfully functioning in a multi-faceted business-related position.

Additional Information:

Work Schedule:

37.5 hours/week, with additional hours during peak registration periods.

Position requires mandatory overtime during peak periods.
