Financial Accountant

Reporting of the Role
 

This role reports to Group Financial Controller

Overview of job

Assisting in ensuring accurate statutory reporting of the group, helping to maintain the Group's balance sheet and partnering with others in the Finance and wider business in providing analysis for senior management as part of month-end. You will work directly with the Group Financial Controller and provide reporting to the CFO, and be part of a dynamic and sociable team.

Measures of success – 

In the first few months, you would have

• Developed an understanding of the group structure and how the Financial accounts are generated

• Assisted in the completion of the 2021 statutory year end process including implementing a new statutory accounts software (Workiva)

• Developed a review process for  balance sheet accounts to apply across the group

• Developed relationships with the wider finance team for the provision of information needed for month end and year end processes

• Assisted in the initial preparation for the 2022 audit

Responsibilities of the role

• Owning key balance sheet lines and reconciliations as part of month end responsibilities, posting journals and providing ad hoc project analysis to finance and non-finance individuals

• Preparing monthly and quarterly forecasts and assisting with the budget for certain central cost items

• Analysing Associates/ Minority Interests/ Provisions and working with other process owners across the Group

• Reviewing other monthly balance sheet reconciliations and providing analysis for senior management

• Taking ownership for sections of the year-end audit and assisting with the Group financial statements

• Supporting a range of subsidiary companies as part of a Group finance role in addition to preparing financial statements

• Other ad-hoc duties as required

What you will need

The ideal candidate will be proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative solutions, capable of the following:

• Newly-qualified, looking to further their career with proven management and financial accounting experience, confident with consolidations and technical group accounting

• A good communicator who is at ease explaining financial information to Finance and non-Finance staff

• Experience with financial accounts and statutory reporting, preferably with a medium to large company / audit clients

• Keen attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving
